(TXDO1XPEHURI/HDUQHUV Greetings to students. Assigned prayer leader will be leading the prayer. Group Work PINOY-HENYO Game In this slide, I will group students randomly and ask 2 volunteer from each group to do the traditional PINOY-HENYO GAME. The selected term that will be guessed are from the topics that was previously discussed (related to this current topic, to be later on be discussed) and let his/her groupmates do the guessing. Number of terms guessed within 2 minutes will be the winner. REWARD : Reveal later Ask students what have they learned in the previous discussion of hemostasis? If someone has an idea, ask questions which correlate to his/her answer to arrive at the main point. Hemostasis term for normal functioning of the circulatory system which is made up of chemical compounds that prevents inappropriate formation of clot in intact blood vessel. 0DMRULW\DUH.LQHVWKHWLF/HDUQHUV Greetings to students. Assigned prayer leader will be leading the prayer. CHARADE GAME Ask a volunteer from the class, ask him/her to act out PLATELETS. Let his/her classmates guess what the word is. Ask students why do they think PLATELETS is essential in the body s hemostasis? If someone has an idea, ask questions which correlate to his/her answer to arrive at the main point.

y y Our body is made up of hemostatic components which do allow the normal functioning of our circulatory system. Blood vessels extravascular ; consist of veins, arteries and capillaries.

y y y y y

Platelets - vascular ; thrombus ; important in clotting process. Recall : Ask to the students the Stages of Thrombopoiesis. (Megakaryoblast, Promegakaryocyte, Megakaryocyte, Platelets) The Amount/Size of Megakaryocyte = # of Platelets CF (coagulation factors) Plasmin Active form of plasminogen ; conversion due to the action of serine protease. - Facilitates Fibrinolysis

SLIDE NO. 4 : 2 Phases of Hemostasis

y y y y y y In normal condition, the body is in balance or equilibrium. Discuss the Diagram shown. Ask and let one or two students to repeat and discuss to class the diagram interpretation. Thrombosis clot formation in the blood vessel. Bleeding uncontrollable bleeding due to continued breakdown of clot. Ask students : Based on the reading of the illustration, what would likely be the relationship of the two processes involved? Answer : Indirect Relationship/Inverse Relationship.

Ask students from time to time the terms that were tackled, to let them put information in their long term memory.

Purple highlight = Contact Group ; Let students determine the CF s here. c. Beige highlight = Prothrombin Group ; Ask them as well. Note : CF III and IV have no group.

CF III (Tissue Factor) : synthesized in brain and lungs CF IV (Calcium) : synthesized in cells and fluids in the body. CF VIII: vW (von Willebrand Factor) : synthesized by megakaryocyte and epithelial cells. Other segment of CF VIII is C (calcium) : synthesized by the liver.

Ask if they have questions, clarifications, or wanted to repeat a part in the presentation. CHECK : If no questions, try to ask them the Name of the Coagulation Factors by just stating the Roman Numeral. (Try about 5 CF)
