Questions for interview

1. Do you ensure the employees health and welfare as they are working on odd hours, resulting in a condition known as shift-work-sleep disorder? (The symptoms of this disorder are tiredness, difficulty in sleeping, and reduced level of alertness) They ensure that the shifts are correctly done. There is rotation of shifts for employees night or day to ease that disorder. They do have a good work life balance.

4. Do you have a code of ethics in hiring staffs? Explain how recruitment and selection are carried out? For recruitment and selection process. They must be able to work at night and during weekends, good in speaking and writing Eng and French. There is also face to face interview.

5. While recruiting, if you get a candidate who was one of your rivals employees, would that not affect your decision to employ him? (In order to have information) No rivals or enemies, they work together. If there is a need for resource they will send resources. They are engaged in customer services- 1st in Mauritius and management solution providers.

6. Do you conduct any training sessions, talks or seminars to have your workforce adopt a common set of ethics within the company? On the first day of work there is the induction course, where the code of ethics and rules and regulations of the company is provided.

7. Has any staffs reported any case of discrimination or harassment? They have never come across that situation. There have been no offences as they are provided with the code of conduct.

8. What do you think of whistleblowers? Do you think they are saviours? If yes, how do you protect the whistleblowers? (They are often criticised and their career affected) When they report malicious activities, they are to be considered as saviours. There is an open rule policy where there is a complain system to tackle these issues. There is always coverage of HR, whoever has a problem employees can send mail to them.

9. Due to the financial crisis were you forced to layoff personnel? (The ethical dilemma is the choice between the organizations survival and ability to make a profit versus providing desperately needed jobs in the country) Yes, 20 people recently.
