Welcome to the 10th annual VanillaPlus Directory

Things were very different when we settled down 10 years ago to compile the first Edition of this annual Directory. For one thing it was called The Billing & Payment Directory. For another it was a print-only publication. VanillaPlus was in its infancy, yet it struck us as bizarre that no-one seemed to have attempted to define the market for business and operations support systems (BSS & OSS, as it came to be known). We spent a long time searching out relevant companies worldwide and ended up with a list of around 250 names. Today the list of BSS & OSS organisations stands at over 450, and they are once again listed inside (see also www.vanillaplus.com). With new players emerging, and others simply merging or being acquired, this sector of software system vendors, resellers, integrators and consultants has lost none of its dynamism. Quite the contrary, the world has come to realise that good software and network architecture are among the cornerstones of efficient communication services. End customers are applying ever greater pressure to the providers of their communications, information and entertainment services. Inevitably, therefore, carriers expect the same creativity, customer focus and cost-efficiency from their suppliers; and these are the suppliers you will find inside and Jeremy Cowan, online.
