Burma Martyrs Day Celebration Invitation Bo Gyoke (General) Aung San, Architect of Burma National Independence, is the father

of Burma's sole national leader, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Born on 13 February 1915, Bo Gyoke Aung San successfully led the Burma Independence Movement as well as Fascist Revolution. After the World War II, the British re-entered onto the Burmese soil as a winner in the war. The war had changed the British politics at home and colonies, like Burma, were asking for total independence. Anti-Fascist Burma Nationalist groups leader Bo Gyoke Aung San was very popular among the Burmese people and he became a promising leader as young as at the age of 30. So then we must labour together in the common cause which concerns all and affects everybody. We must strive and work all of us, until we become heroes all, so that we can ultimately dispense with any leader or leadership. For only then we can have freedom in a real and absolute sense. But I have gone far ahead. We have yet to win our national freedom before we can hope to help ourselves progressively to that absolute conception of freedom. (Bo Gyoke Aung San) "We have yet to win our national freedom before we can hope to help ourselves progressively to that absolute conception of freedom. We have then a big historic task which we have received from those who have gone ahead and passed, as an inviolable trust." (Bo Gyoke Aung San) So then, these are the tasks before all of us. I say then to you: come and let us do them and achieve them, for it is in our power to make or mar our destiny. Above all, have no doubt about your creative power which can move mountains and even Heaven. And what Heaven on this earth can stand before the united will and wisdom of our people conscious of their strength and power and harnessing it firmly to the chariot wheels of history? We are out for ordered progress and we will, with your hearty co-operation, win our freedom peacefully and speedily. (Bo Gyoke Aung San) All the people of Burma love Bo Gyoke Aung San led leaders of Burma but there are a few pro-colonialists who didnt like Bo Gyoke Aung San and leaders. On July 19, 1947 at approximately 10:37am, Burma Standard Time, several of Burma's independence leaders were gunned down by the pro-colonialists while they were holding a cabinet meeting at The Secretariat office in down-town Rangoon. The assassinated cabinet members were Bo Gyoke (General) Aung San, Thakin Mya, Dedoke U Ba Cho, U Razak, U Ba Win, Mahn Ba Khaing, Mai Pong Sawphwa Sao San Htun. Cabinet secretary U Ohn Maung and a bodyguard called Maung Htwe were also killed in the shooting. Since then on July 19, the Burma Martyrs' Day is observed to commemorate Bo Gyoke Aung San and six other independence leaders who were assassinated on that day in 1947. Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) will commemorate the Burma Martyrs Day on 19 July 2011 from 17:00 20:00. You are cordially invited to join with us to observe Burma Martyrs Day together. : : ()
