The ASM200 hardware comes in 2 versions ASM200 A analog only input. For price sensitive versions ASM200 D Digital and Analog input There are 2 development kits. ASM2000 Acoustic measuring system including measuring hardware(DAW200). ASM200SW for uploading data to the module. Optional add on: Front panel control. ASM200 HP High power (100W) module (3Q 2011) ASM200 PA 2x25W amplier 60W power supply for module 200W Power supply for ASM200HP (3Q 2011) Software: DAW200SW Full featured Software for analyzing, testing, measuring also comes with a comprehensive suite for designing a speaker in real time. Change crossover response, equalizing and see the result (or hear) directly. Description A 2 way (or more) speaker of highest performance can be built without passive crossover, a stereo set can be made with speaker equalizing and a simple passive crossover. The Compact form of the module low power consumption and the highest versatility is made by using state of digital technology. The ASM200 is a hig performance module based on the LA200 DAC AMP design.: Power amplier is digital with noise shaping and 400khz switching. Professional grade Sample rate converter for removing Jitter. Low phase noise Colpitts clock reference with AT cut Crystal. The output signal is DC coupled, meaning no capacitors in series with the digital signal path. The power supply has a capacitor bank of 10000 uF, and care have been taking in designing the the power supply. The analog signal is processed by a 24 bit 96kHz Wolfson AD converter. High efficiency external power supply for saving the environment.

Active speaker setups The ASM200 is for active speakers and the sound improvement over passive speakers can be dramatic. Cost is lower than a comparable setup, because the Amplier is built in. And when the ASM200 is ne tuned with the speaker units, improvement is apparent. The ASM200 software package also makes it possible to change target curves so individual sound preferences can be met. Designing the speaker will be more easy (and quicker) because of the versatile Software.

2-way active crossover

Active Speaker module ASM200

2-way active crossover Stereo In this setup the Module can be built inside one of the speakers, and Speaker wires is led to the other speaker. Recommended for best performance 2 way speakers.

Active Speaker module ASM200

3-way active crossover This is the best setup for a 3 way speaker. One module is used in each speaker. For high power applications (>50W) an optional external power supply for the ASM200HP module must be used. The ASM200HP is capable of more than 300W (please consult LeadAudio).

Stereo Active speaker passive crossover This setup is for lowest cost for a stereo pairs. One module is used and can be mounted inside one of the speakers, and speaker wires can be led to the other speakers. The crossover can be more simple than usual, because the ASM200 can equalize some of the drivers problems.

INPUTS The USB input enables the AS100 to be connected to a PC and act as a very high quality DAC / Soundcard, offering real HiFi quality playback from the desktop PC or media PC, etc. This a no driver design (Drivers are already in your system). USB 2.0 compatible S/PDIF Toslink input (optical). S/PDIF RCA 75 ohm input (Coax).(external connector) S/P DIF (external circuitry) There are reasons why you need a carefully designed product when using USB. USB AUDIO is send with xed time interval (based on the PC's 1mS clock!), and it is not time true. This means there can be a lot of jitter, depending on PC load, USB communication, USB clock circuitry and more. Although you can depend on the audio data to be true, the timing can be terrible resulting in wrong analog data. In the ASM200 USB audio data is captured in a USB buffer, with it's own Adaptive clock generator as a reference. This clock can not be used for the system because it has a very high level of jitter. To remove jitter the signal is then send to a professional grade Asynchronous Sample rate converter and the main function is to clean up the timing jitter. The ASRC is a true really state of the art with better than 140 dB range and to keep this astonishing number a Clock reference of highest quality is needed. So by using these techniques the USB Audio is jitter free. Analog input Input is used for personal audio players and IPod. A 24bit Analog to Digital converter from Wolfson is used at this important stage. There are 2 more stereo inputs available on a connector. Also an Electret condenser microphone can be connected, for measuring purpose on the PC. Reference clock. The Clock circuitry uses a discrete Collpitz oscillator as basic with an AT cut fundamental crystal and a 2 step buffering to isolate the loading. The output is a theoretical perfect 50% duty cycle clock and because the power supply is very low noise, the resulting jitter is very low. DAC AMP The Amplier is based on advanced digital signal processing techniques with noise shaping and 400khz sampling frequency. This means the DAC is built into the power amplier and also the Volume control is done in the digital domain. The output stage is a balanced type (not single ended), and though it is more expensive its advantages are important. Amongst others distortion is lower and power output is higher. But also power supply rejection is better and this is important in digital ampliers, because they switch ON and OFF directly to the power supply. This design also has Feedback from the output, thereby also improving the power supply dependence. We made one compromise with this amplier, and that is output power. The ASM200 is rated at 25W/8 ohm. This is adequate for normal use, but if you have a large room we recommend to add the optional High Power module (200W). Power supply

The ASM200 has an external regulated DC power supply, to avoid interference from the power supply transformer to the audio circuits. The electromagnetic eld from a mains transformer is very big, and distance Is the most efficient cure. The power supply for the power amplier is supplied through a number of medium capacitance paralleled capacitors instead of one big capacitor. This gives the advantage of lower power supply impedance (ESR), and this (in audio terms) gives a better transient response, because power can be delivered faster to the amplier. The power supply is converted separately for the analog part and the digital part. Local series and shunt regulators are used in sensitive places (e.g. reference clock). Wima plastic capacitors are used in the important output lter. Power consumption is very low even when playing (typical 5W), due to the high efficiency of the digital amplier. And in power off it is <1W.
