Methodology

Sample The Violent video games-students assisting teacher survey of Dashy freshmen students (John Bowne High School) was conducted at February through March in 2009. This survey was given to 150 Dashy Freshmen students. Surveys were given to each student with an informed consent for parents. The requirement of study protocol is that parents notify administrator of this survey if the parents decline to participate in this study a week in advance of the due date of the survey. Instrumentation Data was collected via Violent video games-students assisting teacher survey. The survey focused to find the correlation between playing violent video games and assisting teachers for service. Data were collected via eleven following questions: (1) Do you play violent video games? (2) What violent video games do you play? (List them) (3) At what age, you started playing those games that you listed? (4) How often do you play violent video games in a week? (5) What is your favorite violent video game? (6) Do you assist your teachers? (7) Do you assist teachers after school or in your free time during a day? (8)Do you assist teachers in a regular basis? (9) If so, how often do you assist teachers in a week? (10) What do you think how effective are you as an assistant to a teacher? (11) What do you think the teachers think about how effective are you as an assistant? Question 1, 6, 8 were yes or no question. Question 2 was a short response question. Other questions had choices for response, which are subject to differ depending on the questions. Both Composite score and individual score for playing violent video games related questions were taken in consideration. Both Composite score and individual score for assisting -

teachers related questions were taken in consideration. Participants who doesnt play violent video games and do not assist teachers for service served as control. Participants who play violent video games but do not assist teachers for service or vice versa were omitted from the analysis. Statistical Analysis The results were analyzed using Microsoft Excel 2007. To find the composite score, average was found out. Both composite and individual score was compared with the control group to support or refute the hypothesis. Multiple bar graphs were made to compare the results in Microsoft Office 2007. Teacher(s) of the Dashy Math Department also helped to analyze and to review the results of for any calculation error.
