1.0 Introduction Meaning of Open Source Software (OSS)

Open-source software (OSS) is computer software that is available in source code form: the source code and certain other rights normally reserved for copyright holders are provided under a software license that permits users to study, change, improve and at times also to distribute the software.

Meaning of Hardware
A computers hardware is consists of the physical components necessary to operate and interact with a computer. Since a computers primary language is binary, devices are necessary to convert our input into that language. The binary code coming out of the computer must also be translated into something usable for the operator.

Meaning of Software
Computer software, or just software, is a collection of computer programs and related data that provide the instructions for telling a computer what to do and how to do it. In other words, software is a conceptual entity which is a set of computer programs, procedures, and associated documentation concerned with the operation of a data processing system. We can also say software refers to one or more computer programs and data held in the storage of the computer for some purposes. In other words software is a set of programs, procedures, algorithms and its documentation.

2.0 The Latest Open Source Operating System (OS)

2.1 Meaning of Open Source OS

An open source (OS) operating system is a set of programs that schedule tasks, allocates storage and presents a default interface to the user between applications. But this OS is free, user has the right to use, modify and redistribute the software for better interoperability.

2.2 Examples of Open Source OS 1) Pardus Linux 2011

Pardus is a very simple Turkish operating system. Pardus comes with internet tools, office suite, multimedia (picture, music, video, etc) players, games and numerous applications populated in a single CD to answer needs of desktop users. Pardus also has a range of unique features, such as Mudur, a start-up framework of Pardus to speed up the boot process, and PiSi, an efficient package management system with a user-friendly graphical interface

2) Dynebolic Linux
Dynebolic Linux is shaped on the needs of media activists, artists and creative as a practical tool for multimedia production: you can manipulate and broadcast both sound and video with tools to record, edit, encode and stream, having automatically recognized most device and peripherals: audio, video, TV, network cards, firewire, USB and more. You can employ this operating system without the need to install anything, and if you want to run it from hard disk you just need to copy a directory. It is optimized to run on slower computers, turning them into full media stations: the minimum you need is a pentium1 or k5 PC 64Mb RAM and IDE CD-ROM, or a modded XBOX game console - and if you have more than one, you can easily do clusters.

3.0 The Latest Open Source Application Software

3.1 Meaning of Open Source Application Software

5.0 Pervasive Computing 5.1 Meaning of Pervasive Computing

The idea that technology is moving beyond the personal computer to everyday devices with embedded technology and connectivity as computing devices become progressively smaller and more powerful. Also called ubiquitous computing, pervasive computing is the result of computer technology advancing at exponential speeds - a trend toward all man-made and some natural products having hardware and software. Pervasive computing goes beyond the realm of personal computers. It is the idea that almost any device, from clothing to tools to appliances to cars to homes to the human body to your coffee mug, can be imbedded with chips to connect the device to an infinite network of other devices. The goal of pervasive computing, which combines current network technologies with wireless computing, voice recognition, Internet capability and artificial intelligence, is to create an environment where the connectivity of devices is embedded in such a way that the connectivity is unobtrusive and always available.

5.2 Examples of Pervasive Computing 1) Motorola Defy

The Motorola DEFY, as the name suggests, is not afraid to be dropped, scratched (Gorilla Glass), used in a sand storm, or submersed in water up to 3 feet (1 meter). It is powered by Android 2.1, it has a 3.7" touch display, 5MP camera, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, micro SDHC card slot and speakerphone.

2) HTC Desire
Yesterday's tiny screens and squeaky sound couldn't do justice to all the great stuff you can experience on today's HTC Desire HD. That's why we've fitted the HTC Desire HD with a huge cinematic 4.3-inch display, Dolby Mobile and SRS virtual surround sound. Websites, videos, music, games and apps really rock on your HTC Desire HD. Have trouble knowing which way to turn when using a map? Relax. Maps on the HTC Desire HD always point you in the right direction. Need an ATM, a gas station or a quick bite to eat? With HTC Desire HD all the top spots appear right on your home screen.

We've added HD video recording and an 8MP, dual flash camera with built-in effects (it's like being able to swap lenses and Aadd filters on the fly). And we've made it a snap to share to YouTube or to your big screen TV via DLNA.

6.0 Conclusion
Open Source can be used by anyone and because it has no copyright claims, so users are free to use, change, and improve the software, and to redistribute it in modified or unmodified forms. Pervasive Computing is to make our lives easier because we can interact with computers. Besides that, we can easily give the computer commands and the computer will grant your wish.
