Q : What should the doctor do for the rape victim Assalamualaikum and a very good morning to all of you.

Thank you Miss Akmar for that question and inviting me in this programme. First and foremost, before I get the answer for the question, let me respond a little bit on this topic. From a medical viewpoint, rape can be defines as a oral, anal or vaginal penetration that involves force against an unwailing person. Rape is a subject which many individuals may be hesitant to talk about, but it is something that we should be discussed. Unfortunately, there are some people choose to remain silent about this issue. Back to the question what is the first thing the victim needs to do after being rape is go to the hospital to get medical examination. The doctor who first see the victim should be empathetic and begin conversation with a good statement such as, This is a terrible thing that has happened to you. I want to help ! Before start the examination, the doctor should get a Medical History and Examination Form write all the information after examine the victim. This is an example of medical history and examination form .. The examination provides evidence for prosecution of the rapist and is necessary before medical care of the victim can begin. The best evidence is obtained when the rape victim goes to the hospital as soon as possible, without showering or washing, without brushing the teeth, without changing clothes, and without even urinating. Besides, the doctor also asks the victim to describe the events to help guide the examination and treatment. However, talking about the rape is often frightening for the victim and she may request to give a complete description later, after her immediate needs have been met. She may first need to be treated for injuries and to have some time for calming down. To help determine the likelihood of pregnancy, the doctor asks the woman when her last menstrual period was and whether she uses a contraceptive. To help interpret the analysis of any sperm samples, the doctor asks the woman if she recently had sex before the rape and, if so, when. The doctor also notes physical injuries, such as cuts and scrapes, and may examine the vagina for injuries. Photographs of injuries are taken. Because some injuries such as bruises become apparent later, a second set of photographs may be taken later. A swab is used to take samples of semen and other body fluids for evidence. Other samples, such as samples of the perpetrator's hair, blood, or skin (sometimes found under the woman's nails), are collected. Sometimes DNA testing of the samples is done to identify the perpetrator. Some of the victim's clothing may be kept for evidence.

Next, the doctor will need to do a blood test. Women will be checked for pregnancy and all rape victims are tested for diseases and infections that can be passed through sexual contact. Cultures of the cervix may be sent to a lab to check for disease, too. The results of these tests will come back in several days or a few weeks. It s important for you to see your own doctor in 1 or 2 weeks to review the results of these tests. If any of the tests are positive for disease or infection, you ll need to talk with your doctor about treatment.

Q: Can you say some word for the rape victims out there? There not too much word from me to say but I m want all the rape victim out there be remain to be more professional in this case. What I means is, they do not choose to remain silent when they are being raped. They should know what the right thing to do as a rape victim. One of the important things that they should do is, go to the hospital as soon as possible to get medical care. This is because, by seeking a medical care, it enables them to indentify and preserve physical evidence of the assault. An example of evidence are semen, sperm, saliva and more. Besides, they can receive a treatment to prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs). They also can receive information about the risk of pregnancy. The rape victim also can know what the internal injuries that they may have. Last but not least, I hope
