Pivyt -gloves

These gloves are knitted with a floral pattern on the top of hand. They were knitted with warm alpaca yarn and are very suitable for fall weather. Choose your favorite colors for your pair - the suggested yarn has a wide color range from which to choose.

Yarn
Garnstudio Drops Alpaca (100 % alpaca wool; 50 g = 180 m), in White (0100), 2 balls (100 g) Garnstudio Drops Alpaca, Green (7238), 1 ball (50 g) Note: if you have small hands, and you don't want long cuffs, one ball (50g) of main color would most likely be enough. If you have long fingers, you need the second ball to knit the fingers.

Gauge
36 stitches in stranded pattern = 10 cm

Needles
2 mm (US #0) DPN's. Adjust needle size for proper gauge.

Size
For women, hand measures 18 cm around the knuckles.

Pattern
Cuff
Cast on 64 sts with white and divide stitches evenly onto 4 needles. Continue knitting k2, p2 ribbing until the cuff measures approximately 6 cm.

Hand and Thumb Gusset

Continue knitting with white in stockinette stitch. On the first row, increase 1 stitch at the end of needle 2, for a total stitch count of 33 stitches. Knit a total of 5 rows in white. Begin stranded pattern at the beginning of needle 4. Knit 1 stitch in white at the end of needle 1 and in the beginning of needle 4. Knit the back of hand on needles 4 and 1 according to chart 1. At the same time, begin the thumb gusset. For left hand glove: knit to last 6 sts of needle 1, knit the thumb gusset according to chart 2. On the first row, do not increase for the gusset. Begin increases for the gusset on row 2: make 1 new stitch before and after gusset stitches according to chart. Knit increases according to chart on every other row. For right hand glove: Begin thumb gusset on needle 4, after 3 sts. Knit the top of hand in stranded pattern according to chart 3. After knitting the thumb gusset, knit the thumb stitches with white and leave the stitches on holder. Cast on 3 new stitches with green to replace the thumb stitches. You now have 65 sts. Continue working the hand in pattern. After stranded pattern, continue knitting in white until the hand measures to the bottom of your little finger.

Fingers
For the little finger, leave 12 sts on holder: take 6 sts from needle 3 and 6 sts from needle 4. Cast on 4 sts to replace these stitches. You will have 12 sts on needles 3 and 4 (10 sts + 2 new sts). Knit 5 rows in white. Leave all the sts on needles 3 and 4, and 6 sts from needle 1 and 7 sts from needle 2 on holder.

Index Finger
Knit the index finger first to avoid cutting the yarn. Knit the index finger with 10 sts on needle 1 and 10 sts on needle 2, and cast on 2 sts between these two needles. You have a total of 22 sts. Divide sts onto three needles.

Knit in stockinette stitch until the finger covers your index finger almost entirely to the tip of your nail. Begin top decreases: decrease by knitting 2 sts together in the beginning of every needle, until you have 6 sts remaining. Cut yarn and pull through all the stitches.

Middle Finger
For middle finger, pick up 8 sts on the holder from the back of hand, pick up 2 sts between back and top of hand from where you cast on 2 sts for the index finger, pick up 9 sts on the holder from the top of hand, and cast on 2 new sts between the back and top of hand. Knit the middle finger as the index finger.

Ring Finger
For ring finger, pick up 2 sts from where you cast on 2 new sts for the middle finger, and pick up the remaining 20 sts on holder. Knit the ring finger as the index finger.

Little Finger
Pick up 12 sts you left on holder for the little finger and pick up 4 new sts from where you cast on 4 new sts. Knit the little finger as the other fingers.

Thumb
Pick up sts on holder for the thumb and pick up 5 new sts from the 3 new cast on stitches. Finish the thumb as the other fingers. Knit the second glove as a mirror image to the first one.

Finishing
If your stranded knitting is uneven, block the gloves by washing gently in warm water and put on the glove carefully, avoiding stretching. Let dry on a flat surface and weave in all the ends.

Charts
Knit the dots with the accent colour.
