Distribution boards shall be capable of withstanding without injury the mechanical and electrical stresses set up by the maximum prospective fault current for twice the period required tw disconnect such fault on any circuit. All fuses shall comply with the requirements of this section of the specification. All MCB's or MCCB's shall comply with the requirements of this section of the sficati Distribution boards shall be provided with removable top and bottom undrilled ‘sland plates for the outgoing cables corresponding to the circuit capacity of the distibution board and a suitable brass earthing stud. Indoor distribution boards shall be of sheet steel with either a galvanised or enamelled finish. The finish colour of all indoor distribution boards shall be chosen to match the adjacent switchboards. Outdoor distribution boards shail be of sheet steel with a galvanised finish. The finish colour of all outdoor distibution boards shall be agreed with the Engineer. ‘Neutral bars shail be drilled for an appropriat= number of ways relative to the size of the board. ‘The metal surface adjacent to any live part and all spaces between phases shall be ‘Protected by barriers or fireproof insulation material. ‘Switch fuse units or disconnectors connected on the incoming side of 2 distribution board shall be mechanically attached to the board with solid copper electrical connections between the units. A suitable insulated barrier shall be supplied to prevent copper or carbon dust released under fat conditions passing from one unit to the other. ‘The current rating of the busbars in each distribution board shall not be less than. the sum of the maximum current rating of all outgoing circuits. The neutral connection for each circuit is to be direct to the neutral busbar, Page 14 of 47 The distribution boards siz‘ ve either single pole and neutral or triple pole and neutral type and shall be eqipped with means to provide overcurrent protection to each circuit. This protection may comprise an HRC fuse or MCB, both of which shall be removable without exposing live connections. Fuse bolders shall be of an approved non-hygroscopic insulation suitable for the receipt of HRC fuses. The cables feeding the diswibution boards shall be comected directly to the incoming isolator or neutral bar as eppropriate unless otherwise indicated by the Specification. Cabling to distribution boards shall generally be bottom entry. However, for indoor boards top entry may be permitted subject to the approval of the Engineer. Distribution boards for use on direct current systems shall be double pole types Approved type title Jabels shall be fitted ext=mally on the front cover of each distribution board describing its function with a suitable designation to enable the ‘equipment to be identified on the record drawings or schedules. CURRENT TRANSFORMERS (CTs) (Current transformers shall comply with IEC 185 as amended and supplemented by the following requirements. Separate current transformers shall be provided for protection, instrumentation and metering purposes, unless space does not permit of unless otherwise specified. For measuring current transformers, the following accuracy classes shall apply: (@) 0.1 for generator ourpur for the purposes of acceptance testing, and for tariff metering of large supplies, (®) 0.2 for plant record metering, and for other acceptance testing purposes, (©) 0.5 for automatic voltage regulators (AVR’s) (@ 1.0 for indicating instruments, and for tariff metering of small supplies. Current transformers used for indication/metering purposes shali be designed to saturate at a value of primary current sufficiently low enough to protect the secondary circuit from damage at all possible values of primary fault current up to Page 15 of 47
