Article Type Troubleshooting Guide Publish Date Feb-6-2008

Description/Symptoms Voice mail boxes appear multiple times, or groups of voicemail boxes may repeat when changing from page to page in the Voice Mailbox Configuration form. This document describes how to remove duplicate voicemail boxes. Body/Solutions Multiple instances of a voicemail box being displayed in the Voice Mailbox Configuration form may indicate voicemail box corruption. The following steps will assist in removing duplicate voicemail boxes.

Connect to the Controller's serial port. Enter the following command on the serial port: pwd The system will respond with a result similar to: /sysro value = 7 = 0x7 The output of this command is used as the path where to obtain the file created in the following command.

Enter the following command on the serial port:

master_list(0,1) > file.txt

Open a DOS window. Change to the c:\ folder in the DOS window using the following command: cd c:\

Create an ftp connection to the controller's IP address in the DOS window and log in at system level. Enter the following command on the ftp session using the path provided from the "pwd" command (above, e.g.: /sysro ):

cd /sysro

The system will respond with a result similar to: 250 Changed directory to "/sysro"

Copy file.txt to the c:\ folder using the following command in the ftp session: get file.txt

Close the ftp session, and the serial port connection. Open c:\file.txt with an Excel spreadsheet. Import the file as "Delimited" data type, use "Space" as the delimiter, and "General" column data format during the Text Import Wizard Select the **column** that contains the string "boxno =". The column is typically "B". Sort the **column** that contains the string "boxno =" using the sort function in the Data pull down menu. Do not include any adjacent data by expanding the selection. Sort in ascending order. Find the group of cells that contain the string "boxno =" in the selected column. These are the mailbox numbers. Look for duplicate voicemail box numbers in this group of cells. Delete all voicemail box numbers from the Voice Mailbox Configuration form in ESM that show up as duplicates in this group of cells. Ensure no instances of the duplicate boxes exist in ESM. *NOTE* Voice mails and greetings for these boxes will be lost. Check the Voice Mailbox Configuration form again to ensure that it shows no further duplicate boxes or does not redisplay boxes. If duplicates still exist, delete them, open the form again, & check again. Exit from the Voice Mailbox configuration form. Close the Excel spreadsheet. This procedure may be repeated until duplicates have disappeared.

If you can continually select the "Next" button to display the next 5 mailboxes and go through to mailbox 9999 without seeing a duplicate you have successfully eliminated all duplicates. Test Result
