ACTIVITIES : PHASE I / WARM UP : Teacher presence students and gives information of standard competence, basic competence, and indicators that they will face today. (5 MINUTES)

PHASE II : Teacher gives example of relation and guides students to remind the define of relation. After students understand the relation, teacher invite some students to volunteer some example of relation. From the example that given by teacher, teacher distinguishs relation and function then guides students to define function and distinguish relation and function. After students have understanding of relation and function, teacher invite some students to volunteer some example of function. (20 MINUTES) Teacher gives some exercise that will be done by the students and gives students 10 minutes to solve it. Then teacher gives chance for some students to show their solution . (20 MINUTES) Teacher gives review the definition of domain, codomain , and range and gives example. Then teacher gives some example of surjective, injective, and bijective function and guides student to define them and explain that they are called the properties of function. ( 20 MINUTES) Teacher gives some question of properties of function and gives students chance to solve it .(15 MINUTES) PHASE III/WRAP UP Teacher gives conclusion of the learning activity and homework that will be reviewed in the next class.(10 MINUTES) ASSESMENTS : Students will be evaluated based on : o Participation in the class such that solve exercises and ask their problems (affective) o Problems which are solved by the students (cognittive) I. COGNITIVE ASSESMENTS Individual task 1. Which of the following sets of ordered pairs are function ? give your reason a. (0,6), (1,7), (2,8), (3,9) b. (0,7), (1,7), (2,8), (3,8) c. LEARNING MATERIAL Relation The art extra curriculer for which choosen by the students are given in the table shown student putri anis ira ari andi joko Art extra curriculer Dance sing dance teater Sing teater paint karawitan

In mathematical term, because we have relationship between two variable, student and art extra curriculer, the list art extra curriculer is an example of relation. Now we will look at relation and function more formally Definition of relation : Relation between two sets A and B is a subset of cartesian product A x B

From the table above suppose that students is set A and art extra curriculer is set B then A x B ={(putri, dance), (putri, sing), (anis, dance), (ira, teater), (ari, sing), (ari, teater), (andi, paint), (joko, karawitan)}. The several subset of cartesian product are : R1= {(putri, dance),(anis dance),(ari , sing),(ari, teater)} R2={(putri,sing),(ira,teater)} The sets of R1 and R2 are subset of cartesian product A x B are called relation. Set A (students) is called domain, set B (art extracurriculer) is called codomain. A relation often expressed in the form of an equation connecting the variables x and y . For examples : y = x + 3 and x = y2 are the equations of two relation. The equation generate set of ordered pairs. Function Definition A function, sometimes called mapping,is a relation between the domain and codomain that associates each element in the domain with exactly one element in the codomain. For example : 1 2 a b

The properties of functions : 1. Injective Injective means that every member of "A" has its own unique matching member in "B". You won't get two "A" pointing to one "B", but you could have a "B" without a matching "A" 2. Surjective Surjective means that every "B" has at least one matching "A" (maybe more than one). 3. Bijective Bijective means Injective and Surjective together. So there is a perfect "one-to-one correspondence" between the members of the sets.
