Advanced Research Methodology in Management September 7-9, 2009 INTRODUCTION & OBJECTIVES: The objective of this program is to provide

the participants with an in-depth understanding of the various methods of conducting research in management areas. Specifically the program would attempt to hone in participants the competence to define research problems, create and evaluate the appropriate research designs, critically evaluate and interpret information and considerations that enter every step of the research process, conduct of the research, derive conclusions and interpretations, and write research proposals and reports. CONTENTS: Various Scientific Approaches to Research How to Build Theory/Framework Measurement Issues Research Design Survey Research Experimental Research Qualitative Research Data Analysis and Interpretation Writing Research Reports and Proposals Issues in Current Research Practice WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Academics & Senior and Middle level Managers of Organizations who are involved in conduct and dissemination of research.

METHODOLOGY The pedagogy would be essentially a practicum wherein the participants will actually conduct a research in the field of their choice. The sessions would include lectures, discussions and analyses of readings, issues and techniques, demonstrations and field project work. VENUE The programme is fully residential and the participants will stay in air-conditioned rooms on a single occupancy basis at the IIML - Noida campus at Plot No. B1, Sector 62, Noida. INVESTMENT The programme fee is @ Rs.25,000/- per participant (residential). The fee includes board & lodging in our executive enclave, tuition, course material and use of the Institute Library, Computer Center & other facilities. The fee is payable in advance by demand draft drawn in favor of Indian Institute of Management Lucknow and payable at Lucknow. The fee may also be paid by Bank Wire Transfer (ECS) to A/c No. 053010100046446 of IIM Lucknow with Axis Bank, Lucknow main branch, Lucknow (IFSC code UTIB0000053). In such case, the remitter may inform us his/her name, name of participant, name of MDP against which the payment has been made, etc.

PROGRAMME DIRECTOR Prof. Himanshu Rai obtained his doctorate from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, making seminal contribution in the area of dispute handling capability and negotiation. His profile includes a stint of over 8 years at Tata Steel, India, where he played a pivotal role in developing Quality Systems for his departments and the Communication Policy for the company.

He has taught a variety of courses to Post Graduate and Doctoral students including

Human Resource Management, Human Resource Planning, Managerial Communication, Strategic HRM, Negotiation, and Business Research Methods. He has consulted with several organizations including World Bank, IFC and SEWA. He is a recipient of the coveted N.T.S.E. Scholarship and Infosys Fellowship.
