Humanitarian & Civilian Activities towards the Gaza Strip Monthly Report for June 2011
The following is a report on the civilian and humanitarian activities carried out by the Israeli authorities during the month of June 2011:

Main Points
There was a 3% decrease in the volume of truckloads transferred through the crossings comparison with last month. There was a 13.64% decrease in the number of patients and accompanying individuals who entered Israel for medical purposes. 33 new projects were approved this month, including: 17 new UNRWAs schools, 1,200 housing units, extension of 5 UNRWAs schools, 5 roads projects, establishment of one clinic and agricultural aid project. Until today 163 projects founded by the international community were approved, of which 30 were completed and 53 are under implementation. During the month, the coordination with representatives of the PA continued58 joint meetings were held. Increase of 11% in the number of foreign staff members of the international community that entered Gaza this month.

Movement and Permits


2,894 Palestinians exited the Gaza Strip through Erez Crossing. Overall, 2,894 permits were issued to Palestinians, allowing them to cross through Erez, including:
o 1,634 permits for medical cases (830 patients and 804 accompanying individuals),

enabling them to receive medical treatment in Israel, the West Bank and abroad;
o 131 permits for international organizations employees.

1,286 businessmen exited the Gaza Strip.

866 truckloads were delivered for 39 projects under implementation. The transfer of inputs for international funded projects as it was coordinated by the international organizations. Infrastructure During the month 346 truckloads of building materials and equipment were delivered for 11 water and sewage projects out of the 31 approved water and sewage projects (6 projects were completed). Establishment of a Sewage Drainage Network in Khan Yunis (USAID) 40 truckloads of aggregates were delivered this month. Establishment of water reservoir and pumping station in Al Rahma (USAID)- 63 truckloads of aggregates were delivered. Establishment of a Sewage Drainage Network in Ma'an (USAID) One truckload of aggregates was delivered this month. Establishment of a water Network in Khan Yunis (USAID) 9 truckloads of equipment were delivered this month. Establishment of water reservoir in Tel Sultan (UNDP)- 31 truckloads of aggregates were delivered. The Northern Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP) - Part B (World Bank) - 27 truckloads of equipment were delivered this month. Upgrading of the WTP in Shiekh Ajlin (KFW) 111 truckloads of aggregates and other equipment were delivered this month. Water pipelines in Dir El Balah (parts 3and 5) (UNRWA)- One truckload of equipment were delivered. Upgrading the desalination plant in Dir El Balah (UNDP)- One truckload of equipment were delivered. Reconstruction of Saka bridge in Waddi Gaza (UNDP)- 51 truckloads of equipment were delivered. Reconstruction of Juhar Al Dik bridge in Waddi Gaza (UNDP)- 11 truckloads of equipment were delivered. Housing projects During the month 234 truckloads of building materials and equipment were delivered for 3 housing projects out of the 13 approved housing projects (2 projects were completed). Construction of 223 housing units in Khan Yunis (UNRWA) - 123 truckloads of Iron and Cement were delivered this month. Construction of 200 housing units in Khan Yunis (UNDP) - 83 truckloads of Cement and aggregates were delivered this month. Construction of 147 housing units in Gaza (UNDP) - 28 truckloads of Cement and Iron were delivered this month. 4

Education projects During the month 49 truckloads of building materials and equipment were delivered for 9 education projects out of the 62 approved education projects (8 projects were completed). Establishment of 2 Schools in Tel Allwa (#12) (UNRWA) 22 truckloads of aggregates, cement and other equipment were delivered this month. Establishment of 2 Schools in Tel Allwa (#13) (UNRWA) 7 truckloads of aggregates, cement and iron were delivered this month. Reconstruction of Boys School in Biet Lahiya (UNRWA) 5 truckloads of equipment were delivered this month. Establishment of a school in Maan (UNRWA) - 3 truckloads of cement were delivered this month. Establishment of a school in Fahuri (UNRWA) - 8 truckloads of equipment were delivered this month. Establishment of Girl's school in Khan Yunis and supply of equipment (UNRWA)- One truckload was delivered. Reestablishment of Girl's school in Khan Yunis (UNRWA)- One truckload of cement was transferred. Establishment of school in Nutzriyat (UNRWA)- One truckload of cement was delivered this month). Establishment of a public library in "Fahurah" school in Gebalyah (UNRWA)- One truckload aggregates was delivered. Other During the month 23 truckloads of building materials and equipment were delivered for 2 projects out of 18 approved (9 projects were completed). Reconstruction of the Arab- Orthodox Society in Gaza (USAID)- One truckload was delivered. Developing beach in Dir Al Balah (UNDP)- 21 truckloads of aggregates were delivered.

Agriculture Projects
During the month 6 truckloads of building materials and equipment were delivered for 2 projects out of 18 approved (5 projects were completed). Establishment of 40 cooling units in northern Gaza (UNDP)- 5 truckloads of aggregates were delivered this month. Establishment of 60 cooling units in northern Gaza (UNDP)- One truckload of aggregates was delivered this month.

Health Projects
During the month 52 truckloads of building materials and equipment were delivered for 8 health projects out of 13 approved. Reconstruction at "Al Amal" hospital in Khan Yunis (USAID)- 5 truckloads of equipment were delivered this month. Establishment of clinic in Khan Yunis (UNRWA)- 7 truckloads of cement and iron were delivered. Reconstruction of "Al Kuds" hospital (AFD)- One truckload was transferred. Establishment of clinic in Saftawi (UNRWA)- 29 truckloads of equipment were transferred. Reconstruction of clinic in Gebalya (UNRWA)- One truckload of equipment was delivered. Reconstruction of clinic in Bet Hanun (Medico)- 6 truckloads of cement and equipment were transferred. Reconstruction of the European hospital in Kahan Yunis (Belgium) 2 truckloads were delivered. Supporting 5 health institutions in the Gaza strip (USAID)- One truckload of equipment was transferred.

Roads
During the month 156 truckloads of building materials and equipment were delivered for 4 housing projects out of the 9 approved housing projects. Reconstruction of Abu Zalah rode in Absan (USAID)- 28 truckloads of aggregates were delivered. Reconstruction of rode no. 19 in Absan (USAID)- 56 truckloads of aggregates were delivered. Work on "Al Salam" road in Al Musader (UDAID)- 40 truckloads of Aggregates were delivered. Work on "Abed Al Hay" road in Al Musader (UDAID)- 32 truckloads of Aggregates were delivered.

Humanitarian Infrastructure
Israel maintained a continuous supply of electricity and water to the Gaza Strip. Maintenance equipment was transferred for the electricity network, in accordance with the PAs requests:
o 3 truckloads of equipment were delivered for the Electricity net lines. o 190 truckloads of equipment were delivered for the water and sewage pipe lines.

International Organization
During the month 62 diplomatic delegations entered the Gaza strip. 124 foreign staff members of international organization crossed. During this month, 131 Palestinian international organizations employees crossed. 29 permits were issued for students with scholarships to exit abroad. 13.5 million USD were transferred for UNRWA. Overall, 1291 truckloads were delivered for the international Organizations. On June 16th, the WHO delivered Mammography machine to "Shiffa" hospital.

Crossings Activity
During the month, 4,942 truckloads were delivered into the Gaza Strip through Kerem Shalom Crossing, including: o 69 truckloads of clothing and footwear; o 155 truckloads of electric products; o 1,475 truckloads of food; o 8 truckloads of textiles; o 1,038 truckloads of construction materials; o 86 truckloads of inputs for agriculture. During the month, 184 vehicles were transferred into Gaza (1,695 vehicles were transferred until today). The transfer of Cooking Gas continued throughout the month, overall, 2,782 tons of cooking gas were transferred into the Gaza Strip.

Commercial Traffic to the Gaza Strip

*The Palestinian drivers were on strike for a week during March. ** During the last week of May the crossing operated half a week due to Israel's Independence Day. 7
