Ventilation system selection software

CVM-selection program (version 5.7, February 2010) - is in-house development of our specialists serving for calculation of smoke exhaust and smoke protection systems, NOVA warm-air heaters, (ZVV), (ZIS) and (ZVSh) air curtains calculation, as well as general ventilation system selection. Smoke exhaust system calculation was developed based on Section 5 and Appendix 22 of SNiP 2.04.05-91* Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. Calculation of pressure loss in valves, branches and smoke exhaust shaft is based on provisions of Guideline 4.91 for SNiP 2.04.05-91 Smoke Protection in case of Fire (2nd revision), Promstroyproekt, Moscow, 1992, and Guideline 15.91 for SNiP 2.04.05-91 Smoke Protection in case of Fire and Ventilation of Underground Parking, Promstroyproekt, Moscow, 1995. Moreover, recommendations stipulated in Introduction to Fire Dynamics by D.Drysdale, Stroyizdat, Moscow, 1990 were considered. Software takes into account difference in organization of gas emission out of roof and radial or axial fans. In the first case it is assumed that emission is performed without pressure dynamic component. As a result of calculation, Program defines the following required parameters of smoke exhaust fan: gas temperature before fan, fan capacity and required pressure reduced to normal conditions (temperature 20? , density 1.2 kg/m3). Smoke protection system calculation has been developed based on Recommendations for Smoke Protection in case of Fire to SNiP 2.04.05-91* Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Guidance Documents in Construction No. 41-1.99. Program allows calculation of plenum smoke ventilation for: elevator shaft in case of type 1 smoke controlled staircase; elevator shaft in case of type 2 smoke controlled staircase and supply of the general air flow to elevator shaft and staircase; elevator shaft in case of type 2 staircase and separate air supply in elevator shaft and staircase; elevator shaft in case of type 2 staircase with zoning and separate air supply in elevator shaft and staircase. Pressure loss in ventilation system from outside air intake point to the overpressure shaft air entering point is defined based on the common pressure loss calculation methods for ventilation systems. As a result of calculation, the Program defines the following required parameters of air pressurization fan: fan capacity and required pressure reduced to normal conditions (temperature 20? , density 1.2 kg/m3). The Program also allows selecting the required quantity of heaters - NOVA warm-air heaters - to ensure indoor thermal balance. This calculation requires setting of specified outdoor and indoor temperature, coolant parameters, building type and dimensions, and other heat sources capacity. Thermal spot definition requires setting a thermal generating unit flap guide deviation angle. As a result of calculation, we have several options to choose by design engineer, geared to price, heaters spatial location feasibility, etc. Optimal heater location height shall be defined as well to provide staff operational comfort in installation area.

Calculation of (ZVV), (ZIS) and (ZVSh) (KLIM) air curtains. The curtain is designed based on efficient operation conditions in the most severe environment: maximum wind velocity and the lowest temperature. Air curtain selection principle: curtain jet shall cover the whole opening and completely enter the room; Air temperature at jet tip shall comply with regulatory documents (SNiP, customers requirements, technical specification). To select an air curtain, specify room type, gateway dimensions, indoor air temperature, assumed outside air temperature and wind velocity. In addition, it is required to specify assumed temperature of air mixture flowing through the gateway (jet average temperature). Curtain type selection shall be followed by calculation resulted in selection of optimal air curtain providing specified conditions. Curtain efficiency is numerically equal to the relative heat loss decrease. It is required for fan selection to specify necessary capacity and pressure (total or static depending on a fan type), preferable fan type, accuracy of fan selection by capacity rate. Calculation is followed by suggestion of one or more fan models complying with specified conditions. Each option is accompanied by values of actual capacity, overall and mounting dimensions, weight, motor type and price (the price shall be specified in Sales Department). The final selection is performed by the customer. User is absolutely free, on open use basis, to perform all described calculations for the purpose of design engineering.
