PROFILE OF THE COMPANY AND ITS PRODUCTS M/s. SHREE WIREDRAWINGS DIES PVT LTD.,[SWDDPL] is a private limited company established in 1998 and are in the line of manufacturing quality wire drawing dies. We have state of the art production facilities for both Natural Diamond Dies as well as Poly Crystalline Diamond(PCD) dies. The facility is housed in companys own land and building at the Hebbal Industrial Area, Mysore. delivery commitments of quality wiredrawing dies. Around 35 SWDDPL is skilled and well trained, dedicated workforce supports the company in its renowned for quality and timely delivery of wiredrawing dies right from the size of 10 microns onwards upto 2mm and catering to the needs of well known wire drawing industries both in India and in abroad.

The company has all infrastructural facilities and manufacturing process is done using state of the art machines for utmost quality. The company can produce upto 1500 dies per month at present, with the installed capacity and can be easily jacked up further with small investments in capacity enhancements of bottleneck processes like LT and lathe operations.

Die making is a highly precision work with cent per cent accuracy to ensure consistency of end product and wire drawing dies are still ticklish in as much as you need to bore a hole as small as 10 microns [normal hair size is around 50 microns] in one of the hardest materials with absolute consistency, which makes the job a real challenge. WHY A WIRE DRAWING DIE AND WHERE IT IS USED? Imagine a world without wires? Impossible right from the beds of the deep sea to the space shuttle or satellite, from simple filament in house lighting to suspension bridges, from ornaments to automobile and other mechanical controls, the wires or cables are omnipresent. Literally, there are no fields, where the application of wire or cable is not there and wires of both ferrous and non ferrous metals as well as their alloys are used extensively in almost all fields of life and science. The technology cry is to minimize the size and maximize the use of gadgets, necessitating fine and super fine cables and wires of lowest microns. Then, how these wires are drawn? Let us take a look:-

The metals and its alloys are malleable and can be stretched and extended to take the shape of a wire. To draw a wire, the metal needs to be drawn through a die to enable the metal to take the exact shape and the size of the die. Obviously, the material of the die should be harder than the material to be drawn or else the die will loose its shape resulting in product inconsistency. While higher size cables or wires can have a small tolerance owing to their size, the fine wires [less than 2.00 mm] requires ultra fineness with zero tolerance. Thus the Wires of higher gages are drawn using tungsten carbide dies while those of small sizes in ND/PCD dies. The fact that the wire drawing process involves lot of friction resulting in high heat generation and metals have higher coefficient of expansion ratio when heated, the metal dies, if used for small sizes may lead to product inconsistency. Hence, for fine and quality wires of small sizes, world over the preference is for ND/PCD dies. They being non metal are not affected by heat owing to friction. Besides, they being the hardest of the material can withstand wear and tear better than any other material. These qualities of the diamond makes it the choicest material for die making. The dies are extensively used for drawing wires from :Gold & Silver,Copper ornaments, Zari, Electrical,Electronics and Indl & Enginerring applications Steel, Nickel, Control cables, automobiles, industrial and Chromium & their engineering applications. Alloys Molybdenum Industrial and Engineering applications Tungston Electrical, Electronics, Engineering and Industrial applications.

SWDDPL Where Quality is a Passion HOW DIES ARE PROCESSED:-

Die manufacturing is a very intricate process involving various stages of processes calling for utmost care and precision. Diamond Selection: Quality industrial diamonds for die making are carefully selected on piece by piece basis. They are individually checked for any flaws or inclusions under microscope and selected carefully. Flaws and inclusions may render the diamond to crack during any of the further processes rendering the entire processing done thereto useless. Lapping: The selected diamond are subject to lapping on two sides to give it flat surface with a window cutting to study the further processes. The surfaces are grinded using diamond powder on a grinding plate. Coning: The lapped stone is centre marked and subject to the first drilling process, i.e. coning using ultrasonic wave drilling machines. The entry of die will be drilled.

Low Tension Process[LT]:- The coned stones are subject to low tension electricity using Platinum Irridium wire whereby continuously and consistently the diamond is drilled for an entry, approach and bearing part of the processing. This is very critical process deciding the size of the die required. It is usual that the dies of required sizes cannot be produced consistently and over 30% of the production will be in over sizes and need to stock as semi finished and processed when the orders are received for such size dies. Orders for multi size dies will enhance production and better marketing than orders for single size [which results in more stocks of semi finished stones] Counter Bore:- The stone post to LT process are drilled on the exit end which is provided to minimize the impact of the stress of the wire drawing on the die. Shaping & Polishing: All the process residues like carbon particles are removed in shaping process and the stone is further subject to mirror polishing of the walls to ensure fine drawing of the wire. Casing and Sintering:- The polished stone is mounted on a required size of the steel casing and sintered with matrix powder using electro sintering technology to ensure firm positioning of the diamond to withstand the stress and strains associated with high speed wire drawing process. Lathe Opening:- The steel casing is carefully opened using lathe to give entry and exit openings to the die.

QUALITY CONTROL:- Post to all the above processes, the final output is subject to quality control to ensure the exact size, fineness and flawlessness of the die using high tech measuring instruments. Then the die is marked with size and number and ready for shipment.

COSTING OF A DIE :
The minimum realizable price for dies of 20 microns to 60 microns is about Rs.850/- in Indian Market. The export prices will be still better than this. The prices of sub 20 microns are higher as they involve The average costing of a standard die of longer processing and above 60 Microns are also priced higher because of increased stone cost. 20micron to 60 micron at present day prices reckoning around 600 dies production a month is furnished hereunder:
