Introduction

Can you imagine the Caribbean beach cricket experience in the lap of the Himalayas here in Nepal? Corporate Beach Cricket 2010 is a magnificent introduction of Beach Cricket on the sandy white beaches of the Trushuli riverbank at Riverside Springs Resort in Kurintar. Riverside Springs Resort is located 102 km from Kathmandu and is a popular get-away for families, corporate groups, student groups and tourists. Spread over 15 acres of lush, landscaped, river parkland, the resort fronts a large sandy riverbank beach; ideal for sporting beach activities. Shangri-La cricket academy is owned and managed by our own Nepali cricketers, Aamir Akhtar and Birendra Shah. It was established to develop infrastructure for cricket as a growing sport in the national scene through a Cricket Academy in Nepal. It has succeeded in grooming national and international level cricketers and bringing laurels to Nepal at regular intervals and at various levels. Shangri-la cricket academy is recognized by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). Corporate Beach Cricket 2010 matches will be played in the exciting Super Sixes format with colored balls and colored dresses; cricket at its best! The Tournament is aimed at introducing beach cricket as a fun and team building sport for the Nepali working society. It strives to allow professionals to network in a fun and friendly environment, promoting its tag line; seriously fun!

Participation

The event is an open tournament where organizations as well as groups of individuals representing an organization can participate. All you need is the spirit! An orientation on sporting techniques and rules and regulations will be provided by Shangrila Cricket Academy prior to the commencement of the tournament. Team participants will engage in teambuilding exercises outside the tournament games as well. Female participants are highly encouraged to participate!

Team Entry

Team entry fee is NRS 45,000 (Forty five Thousand only). Each team will consist of 5 players but 6 players will be provided the following; Transportation from Kathmandu- Kurintar- Kathmandu Air conditioned rooms on sharing basis All Meals for the duration of the tournament A Caribbean Poolside Party Colorful tournament T-shirts 5 FREE preparatory Cricket Sessions at Shangrila Cricket Academy ALL necessary tournament equipment including bats, non-leather beach cricket balls, pitch mats, etc. Up to 40% discount at REEBOK outlets for registered participants leading up to the tournament

Event Plan

Corporate Beach Cricket is a one night- two day event. The tournament will feature a special Caribbean Poolside Party on the evening of March 28th. Tournament Particulars

Each team should consist of five members (any gender). In case of injury or inability to play the team can appeal for a change of players, in consultation with the organizers. Organizers will have standby basic first aid provisions however all injuries are solely the responsibility of individual players. Teams will be provided with meals during the duration of the event. Extra orders and beverage bills will have to be settled directly by the individuals or the teams. In case of uninvited critical situations (including strikes, weather induced circumstances, etc) the tournament may be postponed or cancelled. No refunds will be made but the tournament accommodation arrangements will remain intact. We encourage all teams to invite family/ friends/ supporters and request that they inform the organizers prior to the event for accommodation, transport and other arrangements.

Tournament Rules and Regulations

Best FIVE a side. (This means only FIVE players can play). Wides and no balls will be of two runs (but a female doing no balls/wides will only be single run only) We encourage womens participation in cricket, so runs scored by a female member will be DOUBLED. For example; if female scores one run then it will be counted as two runs. Maximum overs: SIX If any batsman scores more than 30 runs then he or she has to retire and can continue the innings only at the end when the other remaining players are out. If any batsman misses the ball three consecutive times then he or she is dismissed. This does not include wides and no balls. Remember female participants hitting Sixes will be allotted 12 runs at once! The game must go on during the rains as well. This is FUN!!
