Ravens Friday Enrichment Co-op

Please review the following course descriptions before registering your child for the Friday Enrichment Co-op. Each student is required to fully participate in any class they sign up for. This includes the purchase of materials, completing assignments on time and coming to class prepared to participate effectively. The following descriptions are brief, if you would like more information (copy of the syllabus etc..) please contact the coordinator at brandielujan8@gmail.com

Nursery/Prelim ages infant-4 Preliminary Program ages 3-6 Primary Program ages 7-11 Secondary Program ages 11-18 CLASS LIMIT: 8 STUDENTS per class Student/Teacher Ratio = 4:1

Nursery/Preliminary Program Offerings


Waldorf/Enki Inspired Circle
Our littlest Ravens will enjoy Friday mornings filled with wonder and exploration. The Nursery and those too young to participate in the Preliminary Programs will enjoy art, festivals, and nature crafts. We will celebrate the changing seasons, enjoy engaging our hands in natural materials and listening to stories and music which support our developmental levels. Duration: FULL YEAR Meeting Times: Fridays 10-11:30am Cost: $15.00 materials fee/ rotating snack duty

Prehistoric Explorers
Come explore the excitement of prehistoric times! We will have a good time playing with and learning all about dinosaurs, their environment and the magical world of prehistoric times. Duration: FULL YEAR Meeting Times: 2nd & 4th Fridays 12:15-1:30pm Cost: $15.00 materials fee / rotating snack duty

BASIC RULES @ FEC


1. Parent or responsible adult must remain on campus, NO DROP-OFFS allowed. 2. All children must be enrolled in a class, kids may not just be at the FEC location and not be enrolled in a program. 3. Study Hall is for students 13 and over, unless accompanied by an adult. 4. All parents must be assisting a program in some way. We need everyone helping in classes or programs. 5. If you are needing to miss a class, you must notify the teacher of each of your classes asap. 6. for materials fees must be made on first day of class. 7. Every parent must sign up for clean-up duty at least one time per semester. 8. Respect the FEC location at all times. 9. Please use water sparingly as it is a closed system. 10. All students must come to class ready to participate effectively.

Preliminary Program Offerings


Pre-Level 1 Real Science 4 kids
The preliminary Ravens will begin their journey through science with the fun, interactive and exciting Real Science 4 Kids program. We will begin with Chemistry, then move into Biology and from there, Physics. In one year our group will move through all three stages of the program. Reading and Writing is not required, but the ability to participate effectively with parental aid if necessary is required. INFO on RS4K

History Odyssey Club - Ancients


Duration: FULL YEAR Meeting Times: Fridays 10-11:30am Cost: $15.00 per course, or $45.00 for the year Our History Odyssey begins with the Ancients. This fun and encouraging club will not only help keep you on track with your home study of the Ancients, but it will expand your learning into the arts of the times, increase public speaking skills and help to develop presentation organization. This club will meet on the 2nd Friday of the month for an instructor led Art class which will focus on the part of history that matches our studies. Then on the 4th Friday we will meet again but this time we will share our projects from our History Odyssey program. By presenting and listening to many presentations on one time in history the students learn a broad variety of topics, covering far more than can be done at home. INFO on History Odyssey Duration: FULL YEAR (2x per month) Meeting Times: 2nd & 4th Fridays 12:15-1:30pm

Little House Book Club


This monthly club will focus on exploring the stories of Laura Ingalls Wilder with her Little House series. We will enjoy learning about life during this historical time through the arts, crafts, food and music. We will discuss various portions of the books but wont require that everyone follow at the same pace in order to accommodate multiple age levels and reading abilities. Duration: 1X per month (First Friday) Meeting Times: 12:15pm - 1:30pm This club will be team taught by participating families, cost will be shared and determined once registration numbers are in.

Cost: There will be no cost for the presentation portion, however the art teacher will have a materials and service fee which will be determined asap.

PrImary Program Offerings


RS4K Geology/Physics/Astronomy
We are so excited to journey through Geology, Physics & Astronomy with our Primary aged Ravens. Even if you havent had any experience with science, you can jump right into these programs and be successful. For those of you who have completed the Chemistry and Biology programs you will love the familiarity of the format and the excitement of the new fresh topics! History Odyssey Club - Ancients

Our History Odyssey begins with the Ancients. This fun and encouraging club will not only help keep you on track with your home study of the Ancients, but it will expand your learning into the arts of the times, increase public speaking skills and help to develop presentation organization. For all of our little Classics lovers, we will be having a fun, lighthearted club to help us explore Mythology, Certamen & Latin. We will share stories, play practice games, share presentations and watch movies that help us to prepare for any, all or none of the following exams (its up to you) National Mythology Exam Medusa Mythology Exam Exploratory Latin Exam National Latin Exam Our club will also be joining the National Junior classics League as a chapter enabling those of who qualify to be recognized as National Latin Honors Society members. Duration: FULL YEAR (1x per month) Meeting Times: 1st Fridays 12:15-1:30pm Cost: Only registration and materials fees apply to exams you choose to sign up for. Inquire for more information

Secondary Program Offerings


RS4K Mentorship
Come help our younger students to learn about science while conducting research assignments that help you to learn more about the exciting topics. You can choose to assist in either the pre-level 1 or the level 1 science courses. So that means you can choose from Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Physics or Astronomy, or a combination of any of them!

Study Hall
Because so many of our older students are working on their lessons independently we offer a study hall session while siblings are working in their classes. Students must be at least 13 years old to be in the study hall room unattended. Students must arrive with work to be done, or a book to quietly read so as not to disturb others working in the room.
