GENERAL INFORMATION Date: July 16, 2011 Derby Location: Entry Fee: $5.00 per car All Superheros and Villains must use the official boy scout sanctioned pinewood derby kit. Kits may be purchased from the following address for $3.99. Boy Scout Headquarters Retail Store 2145 SW Naito Parkway, PDX, OR 97201 503.226.3423 or www.scoutstuff.org SCHEDULE Registration / practice / coolest car presentation set-up: 12 noon to 1 p.m. sharp. Fastest car races - Session one: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Break, car pit stop and beer chugging race: 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Fastest car races - Session two: 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Coolest car presentations and judging: 3:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Special demonstration race: 4:15 p.m. To 4:30 p.m. Awards ceremony: 4:30 p.m. Barbecue and after party: 5:00 p.m. to midnight.

FASTEST CAR COMPETITION RULES A car must pass pre-race inspection to enter the derby. The following are the inspection points. The wood block provided in the official Boy Scouts pinewood derby kit must be used. The wood may be shaped and added to or subtracted from to in any way. NOTE: The tracks car stopping device functions best with cars incorporating flat bottoms. Cars may not exceed 5 oz. in weight. Car width shall not exceed 2 3/4". Car length shall not exceed 7". A car must have a minimum of 1 3/4" clearance between its wheels. A car must have a minimum of 3/8" clearance underneath its body. Wheels supplied with the kit must be used for the car to race on. Axles supplied with the kit must be used for the wheels to roll on. A cars wheels must roll on the track surface during the entire length of a race. A car must not use any form of suspension. A car must not use any form of wheel bearings. The entire car must start behind the 1 3/8" tall X 1/4" diameter starting gate pin. Cars must be powered by gravity only. Cars must stay in their lane for the entire length of a race. Interference with other Superheros / Villains cars in a race will result in a 3rd place finish. Cars not passing inspection, may race, but will be labeled as Failed Inspection and will not score points in the fastest car competition. Cars may not be modified after inspection. The track will be available for testing during the 2 weeks prior to the Derby. COOLEST CAR COMPETITION RULES Superhero / Villain presentation: Presentation may include elements not used in conjunction with the fastest car competition. Presentation methods such as lighting, dioramas, Superheros / Villains costumes, audio, video, etc., are encouraged. Coolest car competition will be scored 1st, 2nd and 3rd places by secret ballot from all Superheros and Villains. Superheros and Villains may not vote for themselves. Car coolness shall be judged by each Superheros / Villains personal perception of cool, including (but not limited to) a cars on and off track actions, slowness, speediness, crime fighting / crime doing and most importantly the enhancement of the party environment. THE GRAND CHAMPION The Grand Champions prize will be awarded to the Superhero / Villain with the highest combined score from coolest car and fastest car competitions. Scores from each competition will be calculated to contribute equally to the Grand Champion score. Grand Champions prize: A gigantic personalized trophy to keep until nexts years race.
