1.a) Explain the principles of energy management.


b) A process industry consists of boiler, steam turbine, heat
exchanger and condenser. Explain the role of energy manager in
the considered industry indicating the energy loss centers and
appropriate energy conservation schemes.

2.a) Explain the steps involved to start an energy management program


in a typical manufacturing industry.
b) List the qualities of energy manager for the manufacturing
industry.

3.a) Explain various types of energy audit with their objectives.


b) Explain the features and uses of
i) Sankey diagram and ii) Load profile.

4.a) List the various symbols used in energy flow networks.


b) Develop energy flow network model for a system in which fuel is
used for space heating through the intermediate stages-
combustion, boiler and turbine with generator.
c) Prepare a detailed questionnaire for critical assessment of energy
uses.

5.a) Explain with suitable examples, the two types of depreciation.


b) An asset has a first cost of Rs. 50,000/- depreciated to a salvage
value of Rs.9,600/- in 8 years. Assuming an interest rate of 8%
calculate the total present worth by straight-line depreciation and
by sinking fund method.

6. Each of the two projects required an investment of Rs. 8,00,000.


The firms cost of capital is 10% the cash flow patterns are as
follows.

components of a horizontal axis aero generator.

b) Energy consultant selection criteria
c) Replacement analysis when time value of money is considered
d) Principle of working of wind turbine.
