mengembang seperti kubis dan kudupnya meletus

sekitar tengah malam selepas hujan, sebelum mengeluarkan bunga merah terang yang
menakjubkan. Namun begitu, bunga ini hanya bertahan selama 5 hingga 6 hari sebelum layu dan

terkulai. Ketika inilah bunga ini mengeluarkan bau bangkai yang sangat busuk. Hal ini boleh menarik perhatian lalat untuk menghampirinya dan seterusnya menyebarkan debunganya ke
tempat lain. Bunga Rafflesia ialah bunga yang dilindungi daripada diancam kepupusan.
