Theory

There are 12 notes related to the guitar-7 natural notes and 5 unnatural notes.
the 7 natural notes are from A-G(A B C D E F G). an octave can start from either
of these notes and ends at the same one again(A B C D E F G A). if the octave s
tarts from E, then the octave will be like this(E F G A B C D E).
You have to hold the guitar(if ure right handed) on the bottom curve on ure righ
t thigh, with the thickest string closest to you. the various notes come from pr
essing various frets. if u notice, on the neck, there are lines perpendicular to
the strings. the area between them are called frets. the area b4 the first line
is the first. the area b/w the first and the second is the second fret and so o
n.
a distance of two frets is called a step. so the first fret is a step away from
the third fret. a distance of one fret is a half step. so the first fret is a ha
lf step away from the second.
the names of the strings, starting from the thinnest going to the thickest is-E
B G D A E-u can remember this by-every boy goes dating at eighteen. the names ar
e given by the note that comes by playing them without pressing any fret. when y
ou dont press any fret, it is called playing the string open.
A is always a step away from B. B is always half a step away from C. C is always
a step away from D. D is always a step away from E. E is always a half step awa
y from F. F is always a step away from G. And G is always a step away from A.
starting on the thickest string called E major(the thinnest is also E, but tht i
s E minor-same note, different pitch). remember, E is a half step away from F, s
o F will be on the first fret. G will be on the second fret. A will be on the 5t
h. B on the 7th. C will be on the 8th. D will be on the 10th and E will be on th
e 12th. On this pattern you will have to figure out the notes for each string.
the 5 unnatural notes are sharps (#) and flats(b).F # and Gb are the same note.
On the E major, they will both be on the second fret. There is no E#, Fb, B# or
Cb, since there is no fret in b/w these.

Some Scales
Now for the first scale. this is called the E major scale. There are two parts o
f this. E major1 and E major 2. it is usually combined. it starts with E and end
s with E. It goes like this
0
E\
B\
0 1 3
G\
0 2
D\
0 2 2 3
A\
0 2 3
E\ 0 1 3
if thers any way to improve guitaring thats just playing scales most rookies lik
e me when they know how to play tabs and they know chords they then dont wana pl
ay other writtenstuff and they wana create something their own the miss somethin
g thats the scale they mostly wildly play and search for something that sound go
od thats good but they shud practice this as well as this pattern wud make them
strong on fret board once they have practiced it well enough
and these are used in solo's most of the scales in succession are used in many s
ongs
The E minor scale:
E\0 1 3 5 7 8 10 12
B\
G\
D\
A\
E\
the next scale is called the D major scale it isnt D D. it's do, re, mi ,fa, so,
la, ti do. goes like this:
E\
B\
2 3
G\
0 2 4
D\ 0 2 4
A\
E\

after tht comes the D minor scale. also from do

do

E\ 0 2 3 5 7 9 10
B\ 3
G\
D\
A\
E\
this is called the C major scale. This is the only scale tht holds tru for C C a

How to read some ones written stuff

You must learn how to read tablatures. the will always be in this form:
E\----------------------------------B\----------------------------------G\----------------------------------D\----------------------------------A\----------------------------------E\----------------------------------there will be fret numbers on this(0 indicates open)for example:
E\------6----------------------------B\-----5-----------------------------G\----4------------------------------D\---3-------------------------------A\--2--------------------------------E\-0---------------------------------this indicates first playing E major open, then A on the second fret, then D on
the 3rd fret, Then 4 on the G string and 5 on the B string. Then 6th on the E mi
nor.

This is how you read chords(chords are when you play multiple strings at the sam
e time.):
(EADGBE)
this is the format it will come in. there will be numbers indicating which fret
of which string to hold on. for eg:
(022100)
e major is to remain open, Second fret of A and D, First of G, and B and E are t
o remain open.
note(related to lesson#1): The fifth fret of each string has the same note as th
e open of the next string eg. the note on the fifth fret of E major is A, the ne
xt string, when played open, has the note of A. this holds tru for all strings e
xept for B. The fourth fret of G is B. The fifth fret of B, however is E.
