The South-East Asian city-state of Singapore an internationally renowned financial centre and, with its very busy port,

one of the largest and most modern freight handling centres in the world is now also striving to become a top tourist destination. With its ambitious Marina Bay Sands project, the U.S.-based Las Vegas Sands Corporation, is currently developing a gigantic complex complete with convention facilities, casino, theatres, museum and an impressive hotel complex. The three concaveshaped hotel towers dominate the city skyline and each has 55 floors that will be connected using a sky terrace on the roof at a height of nearly 200 metres. An international team of PERI specialists from Singapore and Germany created a comprehensive formwork and scaffolding solution for the Korean building company, SsangYong Engineering & Construction. In particular, the SKYTABLE large slab tables as well as PERI ACS self-climbing technology have optimised construction progress with reduced crane times.

In each case, two asymmetrically curved legs have been positioned against each other which grow together like bridge pylons to form units. Although the three hotel towers are still identical with regard to the height and number of floors, the forms of

the respective building elements nevertheless have considerable differences in terms of the base width, curvature radius and lateral offset dimension. Furthermore, the individual floors are also offset from one another in a longitudinal direction. From the broadest product range for system equipment available worldwide, PERI provides the optimal solution in each case for a wide spectrum of requirements. Here, the variable VARIO GT 24 girder wall formwork and the column formwork which is based on the same components form a proven and stable basis. In addition, versatile shoring with ST 100 stacking towers are quickly and easily installed using only a minimum of system parts.

Systems used in the construction: CB Climbing System

The modular system for all kinds of applications The CB 240 and CB 160 climbing scaffold systems are framework brackets for supporting large-area wall formwork. They guarantee simple handling, fast concreting cycles and problem-free adjustment to different wall configurations. The high bearing capacity of the brackets allows large bracket spacings (and thus large scaffold units) whilst at the same time ensuring very high load assumptions. The climbing formwork is formed by connecting the formwork and climbing scaffold by means of strongbacks which is moved as a complete unit by crane. This means valuable time can be saved. With the CB 240 system, strongbacks are connected to the brackets by means of a carriage complete with rack and adjustable brace. When the wall formwork is retracted, approx. 75 cm of working space is created and provides safe access for cleaning and fixing re-bars. The 2.40 m wide decking is positioned on the brackets and level with the carriage which means the area is free of tripping hazards. Thus working safety levels in front of the formwork as well as behind are increased. The decking can be pre-fabricated and used again on the next construction site.

Advantages High bearing capacity The high loading capacity of the brackets allow very large scaffold units. This saves the number anchor points required as well as reducing climbing times. Simple moving procedure by crane Through the strong connection of formwork together with the climbing scaffold, both can be moved as a single climbing unit by crane. Thus valuable time-savings can be achieved. Fast striking process without a crane With the roller-supported carriage, large formwork elements can also be retracted quickly and a minimum of effort. No tripping hazards The decking is positioned on the brackets and level with the carriage which means the area is free of tripping hazards. Thus working safety levels in front of the formwork as well as behind are increased. VARIO GT 24 Girder Wall Formwork Variable for all designs and applications VARIO GT 24 is the wall formwork with continuously adjustable element connections for all designs and applications. PERI VARIO is an ideal choice as project formwork, with the VARIO standard as a rentable option. Regardless whether it is industrial or housing construction, bridge abutments or retaining walls, any ground plan and all heights can be formed using PERI VARIO. Using VARIO GT 24 as project formwork, elements are optimized accordingly. This means the following points can be freely selected: - type and size of plywood as well as the fixings - element widths and heights - vertical or horizontal tie arrangement - permissible fresh concrete pressure The formwork is extended by means of the VARIO extension splice 24 in 30 cm increments up to a maximum of 8.10 m. Quickly and easily fitted through the latticework of the GT 24, without having to drill the girders. Only two splicing components which are quickly connected using triple-wing nuts. The flexurally stiff connection also aligns the girders. Advantages Various applications The rows of slots in the steel walers and couplings allow continuous tightening of panel joints. In addition, the VARIO GT 24 coupling aligns the panels and adjusts possible deviations during

assembly. VARIO standard elements Are rentable formwork elements comprising of proven VARIO GT 24 system components. VARIO platform In particular, the pre-assembled, ready to use platforms guarantee tremendous savings in time with their repeated use, along with very safe working conditions. MULTIPROP System Cost-effective as table or tower MULTIPROP post shores can be combined with frames and used as tables or shoring towers. The MULTIPROP frame, available in different lengths from 62.5 cm to 2.96 m, allows a perfect adjustment to each individual job site requirement. By means of the captive wedge, the MULTIPROP frame is fixed to the outer and inner tubes. The frames are also used as support for planks or decking for working areas. Advantages High load-bearing capacity The permissible load-bearing capacity is 360 kN. Type calculations consisting of extensive diagrams enable the user to determine the load very quickly. High degree of adaptability The entire inner tube length of each individual prop can be used as a spindle. High level of flexibility Numerous frame sizes for optimal load transfer depending on the slab formwork system. Fast and safe assembly Fast and safe assembly due to patented, captive wedge connection on the outer and inner tubes wedge is simply hammered into position without the need of any special tools.

SKYTABLE Tableforms Fast and safe moving process The SKYTABLE can be used, for example, for the complete width of the building. Requiring only two trusses, the SKYTABLE can be assembled up to a size of 24.4 m x 6.10 m. The actual SKYTABLE moving procedure offers more safety as site personnel work from the secured slab edges. During the entire moving process, workers do not have to stand on the SKYTABLE itself. Advantages Safe moving process With one crane lift, using a special chain block system, the SKYTABLE is pulled carefully and effortlessly out of the building.Work takes place from secured slab edges. During the entire moving process, workers do not have to stand on the SKYTABLE itself. A particularly important safety factor for site personnel! Large movable units Large units of up to 150 m can be assembled and moved with a single crane lift. In so doing, the SKYTABLE is connected to trusses. The simple pin and cotter pin connection allows a fast assembly process. Easy lowering of the SKYTABLE A quick release device is mounted to each MULTIPROP slab prop. Through a simple lever movement, the SKYTABLE can be effortlessly detached from the slab and lowered by approx. 2 cm. After this, the MULTIPROP slab props themselves provide a large lowering range. Easy adjustment to different floor heights The table can also be used for larger heights without any changes to the design with the MULTIPROPs used in a tower configuration.

MULTIPROP Slab prop Light props with high load-bearing capacity MULTIPROP post shores are made of aluminium which means they are very light. For example, the MP 350 can be extended from 1.95 m to 3.50 m but weighs only 18.8 kg. The patented profile along with the actual construction of the MULTIPROP prop allow a considerably longer service life than is possible with steel tubing. MULTIPROP post shores have an integrated measuring tape which guarantees accurate prop adjustment without the need for any time-consuming measurements. Due to the continuous thread on the inner tube, each MULTIPROP prop can be used for areas with large heights. Advantages Low weight The lightweight and patented aluminium profile means the props have a low weight, e.g. the MP 350 weighs only 19.7 kg. High load-bearing capacity According to type calculations, the permissible load-bearing capacity is up to 90 kN (EN 1065). Integrated measuring tape The integrated measuring tape allows exact pre-adjustment of the prop without the need of a pocket rule. Self-cleaning thread The self-cleaning thread and stable collar adjustments can be carried out with a tie rod are wellengineered details which facilitate fast forming. ACS P Self Climbing System The self-climbing formwork scaffold with large working platforms for any building core layout. The self-climbing formwork scaffold with integrated working platforms for any building core arrangement. It provides the optimal solution for advancing cores in highrise buildings, and towerlike structures. The platforms (P = platform) form large-sized storage and working areas. With the ACS P system only very few platform beams cross the walls which has the advantage in that the reinforcement can be partially pre-assembled. The ACS P (P = platform) self-climbing system from PERI is a compact and complete forming machine for cores of highrise buildings and tower-like structures. A scaffold construction, adapted for the building, carries the whole weight of the construction including dead and live loads, e.g. quantities of reinforcement steel for each climbing section. No leading edges are created during climbing which could be a fall hazard. Great importance was attached to ACS P design that there was unhindered movement on all working levels. Site personnel should have free access to the formwork and climbing unit. The complete enclosure of the platforms, which provides protection against the wind, allows working and climbing to be carried out in all weathers. The comfortably designed platforms ensure safe and efficient working routines as on the ground. Advantages Crane-independent Crane-independent forming, striking and climbing speeds up the work procedures on the construction site and also makes them independent of each other. This means the planned sequences can be maintained along with guaranteeing high productivity levels. The crane can therefore be used for other tasks. Climbing in all weathers The PERI ACS can be climbed during all conditions which means that weather-related delays in the construction progress are avoided. In order to provide protection against the weather, the working platforms can be enclosed. The comfortably designed platforms allow safe and efficient working

routines as on the ground. High bearing capacity and safe The stable working platforms are able to carry large loads, e.g. the storage of reinforcing steel for the next climbing section. Generously-sized working platforms, the well thought-out design for handling very high wind loads and the patented control function of the climbing mechanism are some of the special details contained within the comprehensive safety concept. Modular system For optimal operational sequences, the ACS R (R = regular), ACS P (P = platform), ACS G (G = gallows) can work next to each other on the same building or even be combined. Through the provision of customized extensions, the ideal solution can be found for even the most complicated structures. ST 100 Stacking Tower The efficient shoring system for civil engineering ST 100 is quickly assembled. All ST 100 system components are simply slotted together without any bolts or pins. ST 100 requires only 5 system parts. This reduces stock quantities and increases the utilisation. Four parts are often sufficient, if diagonals are not required. This means the ST 100 is also very cost-effective for low heights. ST 100 planning is done very quickly. With only one frame size, every working height is simple to plan and organize without the need of combination tables. ST 100 stacking tower is type tested. Expensive and time-consuming static calculations are therefore unnecessary.
