Renewed Relationship with God

We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. (Romans 15:1-2)

We encourage you to visit our website for all the details and a short video from Pastor Matt on the transition. Simply click on the following image on our homepage, and youll have all the details:

Hugh, our newest elder at Renewal, started off the month with an overview of our last Core Value at Renewal, Biblical Community, by examining Romans 15:1-7. God used His Word and Hugh to exhort us to love each other faithfully, bear with one another, and experience the beauty and goodness of Gods gift of the community of believers.

Leviticus 1 instructed us that man cannot be presented to our Holy God except through a perfect sacrifice where, by faith, the sacrifice takes our unrighteousness and death, and We continued through the rest of June with our righteousness and life are credited to us. Leviticus Blueprint: Glimpses of the Gospel series 2 & 3 reminded us through the grain and peace beginning in Leviticus. Many have commented that offerings that worship flows from a thankful heart they are seeing the Old Testament with fresh eyes, for Gods character and His gracious acts on our are connecting the Old and New Testament together behalf, and can only be offered after the sacrifice for the first time, and are experiencing heart change of atonement for our sin. We are incredibly thankful for Gods graciousness and provision in the life of our church to date, and we trust that He will continue to do big things in and through our people as we make this transition. Pray for our elders and our people, that we would go forward with grace and humility to do the work Hes set before us in our city. Please also pray for the folks at East North Street Church whove been exceedingly gracious in allowing us to share their space since October. We pray that God would continue to bless the relationships weve built in the surrounding communities, and that He would open new doors in the days and weeks ahead, both for Renewal and East North Street.

Renewed in Relationships
Coffeehouse Theology

Everyday they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts. (Acts 2:46)

Renewed Through Study

Hugh has begun laying the foundation for adult Bible study on Sundays around our gathering. This will give Renewal more in-depth time for the study of theology and to focus on its importance to our lives. Jesus said that we are to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, MIND, & strength (Mark 12:30). In order to love the Lord with our minds we must learn to think rightly and see the world through a biblically-informed lens. We will launch the study in the Fall.

Each evening the team would gather at East North Street to hear a message from one of Renewals elders, along with a time of worship with our newly birthed Renewal youth group. A second mission team, this one from Norco, Louisiana (First Baptist Norco) came to visit Renewal and serve our city the first week of July. The team conducted two block parties for two apartment complexes and, as a result, 50 kids heard real Gospel presentations.

Renewed in Love & Service

...And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:47)

On Thursday mornings at 6:30 am, the men of Renewal meet at a local coffeehouse in downtown Greenville to study theology. They are going through the theology textbook by Danny Akin called A Theology for the Church. Thus far, they have studied topics such as natural and special revelation, creation and providence, the attributes of God, and human nature. This study hour has been lead by different men each week in an attempt to give opportunity for growth and teaching, and has been tremendously fruitful thus far.

Community Engagement
As weve told you before, God has blessed us with the opportunity to build great relationships with the folks at Mitchell Road Elementary School, and weve had the opportunity to do several events in partnership with the school. The managers of these complexes expressed the desire to have similar events more often and gave us an open invitation to come back any time. The team did an exceptional job and earned legitimacy to continue working there. We plan to continue growing that relationship in the months ahead. Weve been blessed by these whove come alongside of us to help spread the Good News of Jesus. As summer continues, thank you for praying for Renewal and for those who serve with us in His name and for His glory.

Womens Summer Study

Not to be outdone, this month the women of Renewal started a summer book study and have been reading through Nancy Leigh DeMosss book, Lies Women Believe and the Truth that Sets Them Free. The study meets every Tuesday and the women have thoroughly enjoyed being challenged through this book. The study digs deep into how the woman of today progresses from deception to bondage and the lies she believes that carry her there. DeMoss does a fantastic job calling sin SIN and challenging women to truly embrace Truth, the Word of God, to counteract and liberate them from the bondage they are in. Were excited to see how God uses this book to change the hearts of our women. Please be praying for all of the ladies reading through this study that God would do a good work in their hearts towards lasting change and unite them in relationship with one another.

Renewal was thrilled to have the help of a mission team from Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Danville, Virginia, during the week of June 20th. About thirty youth and eight adults conducted Bible clubs at three apartment complexes, building new relationships with children, youth, and adults. In the afternoons, the team worked at Mitchell Road and the surrounding apartment complexes, doing yard work, cleaning windows, and many other tasks. They also handed out 5,000 invitations to our Movies in the Parking Lot events that will be held at the school throughout the summer, the first of which they helped conduct on June 23rd.
