USING THE MANHATTAN GMAT STUDY ORGANIZER GENERAL The Study Organizer spreadsheet provides a day-by-day, task-by-task assignment

list. The filter buttons at the top of each column allow you to filter assignments by week, day, question format, topic area, status, etc. This filtering capability gives you the option to customize your study plan based on your perceived strengths and weaknesses. You can also type the Week & Day into the yellow cells and click the "Filter" button, if you've enabled the built-in macros. The following describes the elements of the Study Organizer (arranged by column). WEEK Click on the WEEK filter button to filter assignments by week. Note that there are week "0" assignments (before the normal 9-week course of study) and "ADD'L" items (after the course of study). Week 1 assignments come after Session 1; week 2 assignments come after Session 2; and so on. You can reassign the week of any item. DAY Once you have filtered for the appropriate week, click on the DAY filter button to filter assignments by day. There are 7 days of assignments for each week. You can reassign the day of any item. PRIORITY Assignments for any given day are arranged by priority (A is the highest priority). If you have limited time, start with A priority assignments and work your way down. You can change the priority of any item. GENERAL / ADVANCED This column indicates whether the assignment is considered "General" or "Advanced." "Advanced" tasks are associated with Advanced sections of the Strategy Guides. TASK ORDER The Task Order indicates the order in which you should complete the list of assignments for any given day. You can change the task order of any item. STATUS As you complete an assignment, change the status for that assignment by entering Complete or Revisit into the gray cell. Click on the STATUS filter button to filter assignments by status. ACTIVITY CAT exam: Take full-length practice exam at www.manhattangmat.com/practicecenter.cfm. Reading: Read the assigned section in one of the 8 Manhattan GMAT Strategy Guides. In-Action: Complete the assigned review questions at the end of the Strategy Guide chapter youve just read. OG Problems: Complete the assigned problems from the appropriate Official Guide book (generally the 12th Edition; we have saved the 2nd Editions of the Quantitative and the Verbal Review books to use for comprehensive review at the end of the course and afterwards). Not every OG problem is assigned in this organizer; the number of problems has been deliberately limited so that you can spend more time reviewing & truly mastering each problem. Review: Review problems youve tagged for review, brush up on concepts from the Strategy Guide readings, and revisit any important material from previous weeks. QUANT/VERBAL Assignments related to the quantitative section of the GMAT are labeled Quant. Assignments related to the verbal section are labeled Verbal. Assignments that are more general in nature are not labeled. FORMAT Each assignment is categorized by question format (DS=Data Sufficiency, PS=Problem Solving, SC=Sentence Correction, CR=Critical Reasoning, RC=Reading Comprehension). Assignments not labeled are not specific to any one format. TOPIC Each assignment is categorized by content topic. Assignments not labeled are not specific to any one topic. SUBTOPIC Each assignment is categorized by content subtopic. Assignments not labeled are not specific to any one subtopic. BOOK The BOOK column indicates which book is required to complete the assignment. "Strat Guide" means Manhattan GMAT Strategy Guide. The prefixes correspond to the titles as follows: CR=Critical Reasoning; EIV=Equations, Inequalities, & VICs; FDP=Fractions, Decimals, & Percents; Geo=Geometry; NP=Number Properties; RC=Reading Comprehension; SC=Sentence Correction; WT=Word Translations. "OG" means Official Guide. "OG--12th ed." is the 12th edition of the Official Guide (dark red). "OG 2nd Q Supp (Green)" is the 2nd edition of the Quant Review (a supplementary OG). "OG 2nd V Supp (Blue)" is the 2nd edition of the Verbal Review (a supplementary OG). Assignments not labeled do not require the use of a book. CHAPTER This column tells you which chapter you need to complete the assignment, if you are using a book. PROBLEM # This column indicates which problem numbers are to be done for a given assignment. PAGE # This column indicates the page or range of pages on which to find the assignment.

APPROX TIME The APPROX TIME column gives the estimated time that it will take you to complete a given assignment. Note that approximate times are listed out for individual problems. The time listed for each problem includes time to do the problem and time to review the problem. For example, a math problem will have an APPROX TIME listing of 0:06. This includes 2 minutes to do the problem and 4 minutes to review your work. ACTUAL TIME Enter the actual amount of time you spent on the assignment. Follow this format: H:MM -- in other words, Hours, then colon, then Minutes. As a default, the APPROX TIME is already entered. NOTES Enter any notes in this column. Original Sort This column contains the original sort order of the document. You can sort by this column to restore the original order. WEEKLY PLANNERS The sheets labeled "Week 1" through "Week 9" give you a visual overview of your weekly tasks. They are not hot-linked to the Study Organizer sheet, so if you want to make changes, you'll have to do so manually. There is also a "Blank Week" diagram that you can fill in as you like.
