Both RTE Radio and Today FM saw further declines in their overall market share predominately due to increased competition from local and multi-regional/city radio stations RTE Radio 1s market share grew by 0.9% to 23.5% while RTE 2fms market share has dropped 2% to 7.3% Today FM also experienced a decline from 9.6% to 8.9% while Newstalks share grew marginally to 4.1% Market share for 4FM in the stations multi city region dropped from 2% to 1.5% Average daily adult listening levels have risen slightly to 236 minutes

A slight increase in share of adult audiences for RTE Radio One was counter-balanced by further decline for RTE 2FM RTE 2FM lost share for Housekeepers with Children (12.2% to 7.7%) and Adults 15-34 (7.9% to 5.1%) Newstalk has come back from a 6% market share of all adults to 6.7% and from 4.8% to 5.7% for Adults 15-34 Today FM saw a large drop for Adults 15-34 from 12.1% to 7.1% Q102 continues to grow in market share with their biggest growth for Adults 15-34 from 10.4% to 13.3% 98FM is suffering as a result of Q102 and FM104s success with a drop of almost 2% from 10.9% to 9% for all adults. However, they increased slightly for Housekeepers with Children 13.3% to 14.3% FM104 was the clear winner in this survey in market share for all adults jumping by 2.7% from 9.7% to 12.4% Spin 1038 remains the number one station for 15-24 year olds with a market share of 35.4% dropping by just 0.2%

The overall national stations share dropped in Cork as local stations grew RTE Radio 1 increased slightly from 20.7% to 20.8% Today FMs adult share decreased significantly from 11% to 8.3% Cork 96 FM continues to be the leading station for Hks with children but has lost out to Red FM for 15-24 Despite taking market share from Cork 96 FM, Red FM saw a decrease for 15-24s from 44.5% to 37.2% The average daily adult listening minutes in Cork increased by 8% YoY from 251 to 271

Highland remains static but still leads the local stations with an impressive 64% market share Gaining substantial share are WLR, Ocean FM and Clare FM All but four stations grew in market share which is a change from last year where the stations were losing share to the regional stations

Latest News: RTE Radio 1 continues to buck the trend of the main national broadcasters, increasing its market share to 23.5%. The stations flagship programme, Morning Ireland, goes from strength to strength, increasing its listenership by 29,000 to 460,000 listeners and remains the most listened to radio programme in the country The competition between the other national breakfast shows continues with RTE 2FMs Breakfast with Hector attracting 130,000 listeners while the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show on Today FM has 212,000 listeners. Newstalk is the big success story with the Breakfast show increasing its average quarter hour listenership by over 6,500 YOY. The programme now has 110,000 listeners Ray Darcy has seen a decline in listenership YOY with an average quarter hour of 127,000 listeners, down from 141,000 listeners. Despite this drop his show is performing better than his main competitor Ryan Tubridy who has an average quarter hour of 105,000 listeners A host of key programmes remain available for sponsorship including Liveline on RTE Radio 1 and Tubridy on RTE 2FM
