Personal Statement
I have a deep passion for my profession and wish to affect change in communities through my professional and personal activities. Committed to a lifetime of learning, I strive to remain abreast of current trends and ideas that drive the landscape industry and environmental movement. I thrive in a collaborative environment and wish to assist in the creation and maintenance of great places that are environmentally sound, offer unique experiences and facilitate the establishment of authentic communities. I have worked in nearly every aspect of the landscape industry and believe that this ground up approach affords a holistic understanding of the processes and factors that go into creating and sustaining valuable, green, open spaces.

I teach the Introduction to Greenroofs and Living Walls course which involves seven evening classes and two field trips to greenroofs and vertical gardens around the city for a total of 24 credit hours. Spring 2011was my first class and I am scheduled to teach it again this Fall. I enjoy presenting to groups and educating those who are seeking knowledge.

I was seasonal contracted with this leading international project management firm to oversee the installation of various tree planting activities from beginning to completion. These projects include; sidewalk saw cutting and tree pit excavation, stump removal, tree installation, parkland reforestation and installation of pavers around street trees. I was responsible for on site inspection, documentation, quality control, contractor payment review and public interaction. All contracts are being executed for the New York Department of Parks and Recreation as part of the PlaNYC Million Trees NYC initiative.

I also coordinated with various consultants as well as county zoning and permitting officials to ensure quality standards and a full and complete set of construction documents.
