Skills: Identifying purpose by context clues, the content and the setting Description of activity: Ask students to use the information from the listening selection to set their own purposes in listening. Procedure: The students will listen to five situations about news, music, lecture, directions, and fictional story. They will identify the purpose of listening in each situation and they will write it in the worksheet provided to them. The students will then explain their answers by telling the things that help them identifying the purpose such as context clues, the content and the setting.

Skill: Finding supporting details Description: Finding the supporting details is to build evidence for the main points. Supporting details often consist of illustrations and examples that make the main idea clearer to the listener. (Hybels, Saundra, 1992) Procedure: The students will listen to a selection about Galileos discoveries in astronomy. While they are listening, they will be completing the concept map in the worksheet provided to them by finding the supporting details.
