1. Allgemeines
Diese Gebrauchsanleitung enthält wichtige Hinweise zur Verwendung der Velmia
Achskupplung. Achten Sie hierauf, auch wenn Sie das Produkt an Dritte weitergeben.
Archivieren Sie deshalb diese Gebrauchsanleitung, sodass Sie zu einem späteren
Zeitpunkt erneut darin nachlesen können.

Die vorliegende Achskupplung ermöglicht Ihnen – richtig angewandt – einen Anhänger

an Ihr Zweirad anzukuppeln. Hierfür ist es unbedingt notwendig, dass Sie die
folgenden Warn- und Sicherheitsanweisungen beim Gebrauch befolgen.

4. Montage der Kupplung per Schnellspanner

1. Bereiten Sie das Fahrrad für die Montage der Kupplung vor:

- Lösen Sie die Schnellspannmutter komplett und nehmen Sie diese vom
Schnellspannbolzen ab.

2. Montieren Sie die Kupplung an die Hinterradachse:

- Nehmen Sie eine der Federn des Schnellspanners ab und setzen Sie den
Schnellspanner in die Kupplung ein.
- Setzen Sie den Schnellspanner von der linken Seite (wenn Sie von hinten
auf das Fahrrad sehen) in die Fahrradachse ein, sodass er nach rechts
weist.
- Setzen Sie die Feder wieder auf den Schnellspanner auf (das schmale Ende
der Feder zeigt dabei nach Innen in Richtung des Fahrrads.)

3. Arretieren Sie die Verbindung, um das Hinterrad zu sichern:

- Ziehen Sie die Schnellspannmutter so weit an, dass Sie den Spannbügel
mit etwas Druck schließen können.

Warnung!

Die Schnellspannmutter muss komplett mit mindestens zwei

Schraubengängen über dem Ende der Schnellspannmutter am
Schnellspanner festgezogen werden, um sicherzustellen, dass das
Hinterrad des Fahrrads sich nicht löst.

Stellen Sie immer sicher, dass das Schnellspannsystem korrekt angebracht

ist. Ein fehlerhaft angebrachtes Schnellspannsystem kann dazu führen,
dass sich das Hinterrad versehentlich löst.

5. Montage der Kupplung an einer Starrachse

1. Lösen Sie die Mutter und die Unterlegscheibe(n) am linken, dem Kettenrad
gegenüberliegenden Ende der Achse komplett und nehmen Sie diese ab.
2. Setzen Sie die Kupplung auf die linke Seite der Achse.
3. Setzen Sie Mutter und Unterlegscheibe(n) wieder auf die Achse auf.
4. Ziehen Sie die Mutter gemäß dem vom Fahrradhersteller empfohlenen
Drehmoment fest.

Warnung!

Die Mutter der Hinterachse muss mit mindestens 5 vollen Umdrehungen

festgezogen werden, um sicherzustellen, dass sie fest sitzt. Sie können bei
einigen Achsen die Originalmutter austauschen, um Platz für die Kupplung
zu schaffen. Fragen Sie Ihren Fahrradhändler, um sicherzugehen.

Je nach Nabentyp muss die Originalunterlegscheibe als Drehmomentstütze

am Rahmen bleiben. Bitte beachten Sie die Montageanleitung der Nabe
und die Drehmomentangaben des Herstellers, wenn Sie die Achsenmutter
anziehen.

6. Wartungsintervalle

Vor jeder Fahrt

- Prüfen Sie, ob Deichsel, Kupplung und Buggy-Rad sowie deren Befestigung

technisch in Ordnung sind.

7. Entsorgung

Verpackung entsorgen

Entsorgen Sie die Verpackung sortenrein. Geben Sie die Pappe und Karton zum
Altpapier, Folien in die Wertstoffsammlung.

Entsorgung Kupplung

Die Achskupplungen bestehen aus wertvollen Rohstoffen, die wiederverwendet

werden können. Entsorgen Sie die Achskupplung nicht mit dem Hausmüll, sondern
führen Sie sie der Wertstoffsammlung zu.

8. Gewährleistung

Da es sich bei dieser Kupplung um ein universell einsetzbares Produkt ohne

spezifische Fahrzeugzuordnung handelt, ist es wichtig, dass Sie sich vor dem ersten
Gebrauch davon überzeugen, dass sich die Kupplung ohne Probleme sachgerecht an
Ihrem Zweiradtyp anwenden/verwenden lässt. Achten Sie dabei unbedingt auf die
Angaben Ihrer Fahrzeugbedienungsanleitung und die Vorgaben des
Fahrzeugherstellers. Dies ist notwendig, da durch die nicht sach- und typgerechte
Verwendung dieser Kupplung Schäden an Fahrzeug oder der Achskupplung selbst
verursacht werden können.

1. General information
These instructions for use are exclusively for the Velmia trailer hitch coupler. They
contain important notes on use, handling and maintenance. This should be taken into
consideration when handing the product over to third parties too. Keep them in a safe
place so that you can refer to them again later.

Used correctly, this coupler will enable you to couple a trailer to your bicycle. It is
imperative that the following warning and safety instructions be observed.

4. Installing the coupler with a quick-release

1. Prepare the bicycle for mounting the coupler:

- Completely unscrew and remove the quick-release knob from the quick
release skewer.

2. Mount the coupler on the rear wheel axle:

- Remove one of the springs from the quick-release skewer and insert the
quick-release skewer through the coupler.
- Insert the quick-release skewer into the bicycle axle from the left side (if
looking at the bike from behind) pointing right.
- Replace the spring back onto the quick-release skewer (The narrow end of
the spring points inwards towards the bike.)

3. Tighten the connection firmly in order to secure the rear wheel:

- Tighten the quick-release knob until you can close the clamp with a certain
amount of pressure.

Warning!

The quick-release knob must be tightened on the quick-release skewer

completely with at least two screw threads showing past the end of the
quick-release knob to ensure the rear wheel of the bicycle does not loosen
off.

Always make sure that the quick-release is correctly attached. An incorrectly

tensioned quick-release may lead to accidental loosening of the rear wheel.

5. Installing the coupler on a solid axle

1. Remove the nut and washer(s) from the left end of the axle, the end opposite of the
sprockets.
2. Put the coupler on the left side of the axle.
3. Reinstall the nut and washer(s) onto the axle.
4. Tighten the nut to the bicycle manufacturer's recommended torque.

Warning!

The nut on the rear axle must be tightened by at least 5 full turns to ensure
adequate clamping force. You may discard the original washer on some
axles to make room for the coupler. Check with your bicycle retailer to be
certain.

Depending on the hub type, the existing torque support washer for the hub
must stay on the frame. Please follow the assembly instructions for the hub
and the manufacturer’s torque specifications when fastening the axle nut.

6. Maintenance intervals

Before every ride

- Check whether the tow bar, coupler and buggy wheel and their attachments are
technically OK.

7. Disposal

Packaging disposal

Please dispose of the packaging appropriately. Dispose of cardboard and cardboard

boxes with waste paper and dispose of plastic film with recyclables.

Coupler disposal

The couplers are made from valuable raw materials which can be reused. Therefore,
do not dispose of the couplers with the household waste; take them to a recycling
collection point instead.

8. Warranty

Since this is a universal coupler and not intended just for one particular vehicle, it is
important to make sure that it is suitable for your type of bicycle before you use the
coupler for the first time. Always follow the instructions in your vehicle operator’s
manual and the directions of the vehicle manufacturer. This is essential, as improper
use of this coupler or its unsuitability for a vehicle could damage the coupler or your
bicycle.
