, faculty member of IBM and I am your Guide for your summer training project report and I am really looking forward to help and guide you as per my experience. I thought Id write a quick note to say hello and introduce myself. I whole heartedly welcome and congratulate you for your summer training project report. I believe that you will find the program rewarding and will gain much from this summer training program. I am here by sending you all information needed. STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE SUMMER TRAINING


The Summer Training is an integral part of the MBA programme and aims at achieving the following objectives: To apply knowledge and techniques learnt in the first year to real business problems and test out and enrich ones understanding, knowledge and skills. To give an insight into the working of the real organizations. To gain deeper understanding in specific functional areas. To appreciate the linkages among different functions and developing a realistic managerial perspective about organizations in their totality. To explore career opportunities in their areas of interest. GUIDELINES: Each student will be required to submit a copy of his/her summer internship report to IBM thru a nominated functionary on or before August 10, 2011. Each student is required to make a copy of project in CD and submit along with his/her project report. All the students are required to follow the following instructions: There should not be any deviation from requirement of reproducing the cover page of the report from the format prescribed below. Students should prepare an outline framework on which long written works are constructed. Preparation of the rough draft. Rewriting and Polishing the rough draft. Bibliography usage to be mentioned The cover page must be hard bound in: Navy Blue Color with Gold Embossing - MBA INT. CS Maroon color with gold embossing - MBA Int. ECE Brown color with gold embossing - MBA Int. IT Red color with gold embossing - MBA Green color with gold embossing - MBA Int. BT Black Color with gold embossing - BBA The size of the report would depend on the project undertaken. However it should not be less than 60 typed pages (Single space) on A4 size paper. All the students are required to use the uniform font and format (except in heading and subheadings) through out the text of the report. For example, if anybody uses Times New Roman of font size 12 in the text, then he/she will be using the same through out the report. The project report must accompany a certificate authenticating the originality of the work done in the prescribed format, as indicated below.

concerned in the organization where the student has undergone training / Certificate by the Head of the institute that the work is unique Acknowledgement by the student Preface Table of contents (with consecutive numbering) List of Tables and Illustrations Executive Summary (Introduction of the reason for project, Research Design in short, Findings, conclusions in short) Introduction (not more than 3-4 pages) Introduction of the organization Objectives of the study Hypothesis(s), if any Literature review (As elaborate as possible) The Background, The Company and its Product line, Features of the Product, Marketing strategies, Competitors, Govt. Policies, Taxation aspects, Major problems, Achievements, Share Market Position, National and International Image, Future Prospects

Research Methodology Research Design Sampling Design viz. Simple Random Sampling, Cluster Sampling, Systematic Sampling, Stratified Sampling, Convenience Sampling, Judgmental Sampling, etc. Sources of data (Primary or/and Secondary data) Data Collection tools/instruments. Methods of data collection. Tools and techniques of analysis of Data. Statistical analysis must be supported by relevant tables, charts, graphs etc. as required Findings Conclusions (Outcomes/Results) Implications of the study Suggestions/Recommendations Limitations Overall Experience Description of work responsibilities taken (Describe the department you worked in, Job description) How could you have done your work better? DOs AND DONTS for Students Dos Punctuality (timeliness) Maintaining healthy and cordial relationship with the people in organization. Adapt to the work culture. Obeying directives and advice from the seniors. Showing a sense of belonging with the organization. Maintaining proper Line and Staff Relationship with the seniors and subordinates (If Any). MBA /MBA Int. CS etc.) Place of training: Controlling Offices name & Mobile no. Project: Major achievements: Problems encountered / Clarifications sought.
