Use this text to observe the use of comparative and superlative adjectives: New Orleans, one of the oldest and most exciting cities in the U.S.A., is situated on the Mississippi River, near the Gulf of Mexico. It is the largest city in Louisiana and one of the most significant in the south. It is an important port, industrial area and convention center, but perhaps it is most famous as the home of jazz music. It has a lot of attractions for tourists. There are, for example, the elegant old buildings of the French Quarter. But the city also has very modern parts, with buildings like the Superdome, the gigantic indoor sports stadium. The biggest attraction, however, is the colorful festival of Mardi Gras, which takes place over two weeks every February. The city has a mix of French, Black, English, and Spanish influences from its past. You can see this mix in the architecture, taste it in the delicious food, and hear it in the wonderful music. And the weather? Well, not everybody likes it. It has a lot of rain, is mild in winter and hot and humid in the summer.

Gran Canaria A. Puerto Rico Enjoying a pleasant location in the southwest of the island, Puerto Rico is a popular resort of villa and apartment complexes built on the rugged hillsides. The town has a wide selection of bars and restaurants for you to enjoy, and you can take a pleasant stroll past the lido and through the park to the wide crescent shaped beach. Please note that as Puerto Rico is set on a hillside, the resort is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties.

B. Playa del Ingls The largest and liveliest resort on Gran Canaria, Playa del Ingls is renowned for having the best climate on the whole island, and is a splendid destination for families and couples, where the superb sandy beach merges with the spectacular rolling dunes of neighboring Maspalomas.

C. San Augustn San Augustn is at the eastern end of the strip of beaches that forms the southern coast of Gran Canaria. In comparison to the neighboring resort of Playa del Ingls (2.5 kilometers away by taxi or bus), this is a much smaller town which is just beginning to awake to the sound of vacationers. A very select resort, San Augustn is ideal for a relaxing vacation, with the added benefit of a lively town just a short drive away.

D. Maspalomas Two kilometers from Playa del Ingles, Maspalomas is an oasis of spectacular, Sahara-like dunes and a 6kilometer sandy beach. The area offers diverse facilities, including a waterpark, camel riding, an amusement park and an 18-hole golf course. There is a commercial center within the area for shopping and dining, and a short drive away Playa del Ingls provides a host of evening entertainment. Sonnenland a tranquil area of Maspalomas with a small selection of stores and restaurants is the ideal choice for a relaxing get-away-from-it-all vacation.
