Co-op Divisions and Member Authorities

Current Co-op divisions overview 1. Co-op divisions separate members and information into different categories. 2. Current Co-op divisions include: (a) Member Information i. Standard member information. (b) Co-op Local i. Local information about the MWI co-op ii. This is also a status that is assigned by members to other members that are believed to be members who A. Believe in creating a low cost local information cooperative B. will help with quality control in MWI in order to keep the site clean, accurate, and conservative in terms of the quality of information that is posted. (c) Co-op All Members i. Information and resources for the members of the co-op. (d) Local Insight i. Members with this status will post News and Opinions on topics of local information. ii. These members will be picked by other members of the Cooperative who have Division Authority. A. Members with Local Insight status are meant to be members who have inside knowledge of local issues on an ongoing basis or an issue of the moment. B. These members will also be held to a higher standard of conduct in how they present their information and opinions as compared to information posted in the Member Information division. (e) National Analysis i. Members with this status will post News and Opinions on topics of National interest. ii. The process for picking these members is the same as in Local Insight. Current Co-op divisions 1. Member Information This is the standard division. All members have this authority. This is the default setting when creating a Standard Ad. 2. Co-op Local This optional status will be given to members who agree to help with the Quality Control (QC) tasks for the cooperative. (a) QC consists of: i. Approving of new Minor Descriptions for general usage by all members in all locations. ii. Approving new Premium Ads or changes in existing Premium Ads.

iii. Voting on Ads that have been tagged as having Inappropriate Content. The member will be able to give an opinion and vote on whether an Ad is OK or should be shut down. (b) Members will be held accountable for their QC actions. i. Members will not be allowed to be anonymous in their actions. (c) The information that can be posted in Co-op local is i. Local self help Resources for Co-op members ii. Members that provide discounts for other co-op members will also be listed here. A. We will eventually have a membership option of a plastic co-op member card. 3. Local Insight This optional status will be given to members of the community who have inside knowledge on a subject. (a) Some people will be given Local Insight status because they have inside knowledge: i. on a continual basis. ii. Or on a current topic of local interest. (b) Members with Local Insight status are allowed to create local Minor Descriptions (topics) that are subjects of local interest. (c) Examples of people who would be given Local Insight status are: i. Politicians at the Local and State level. ii. People within the community who have knowledge and expertise in a certain area that they want to share. 4. Co-op All Members This optional status will be given to members of the community who will provide self help information on Internet based resources that provide tools for Co-op members to create and improve information in their accounts. 5. National Analysis This optional status will be given to members who have inside knowledge and expertise on matters that are National issues. (a) Members with National Analysis status are allowed to create Minor Descriptions (topics) that are on subjects of National interest. Administrative Authorities overview 1. Administrative authorities include: Manage, Admin, and Division 2. Administrative authorities are arranged in a hierarchy. Administrative Authorities 1. Manage Authority (a) Manage authority can assign all administrative authorities below it and the 4 optional divisions. i. This includes: Admin, Division, Co-op Local, Local Insight, Co-op All Members, and National Analysis. (b) Manage authority will allow access to all administrative functions.

i. Administrative functions are behind the scenes processes that allow for A. Manual control of entries in data tables. B. Access to the creation and modification of Help, FAQ, and Rules. C. Access to rules for quality control. (c) Manage authority will assign Admin authority. i. A task for Manage authority is to assign Admin authority to other members. A. The question for members on this committee is Who do you think will make good decisions in assigning Division authority to other members? (d) Other tasks will be assigned to Manage authority as the situation evolves. 2. Admin Authority (a) Admin authority can assign all administrative authorities below it and the 4 optional divisions. i. This includes: Division, Co-op Local, Local Insight, Co-op All Members, and National Analysis. (b) The main purpose of Admin authority is to assign Division authority to other members. i. The process of deciding who gets Admin authority is probably decided by a committee of other members. A. The question for members on this committee is: Who do you think will make good decisions in assigning the 4 optional Co-op divisions to other members? (c) A task that will be assigned in the near future is the naming of: i. Districts or Wards within a City. ii. Neighborhoods within a District or Ward. iii. Areas within a State. iv. The process of deciding these areas is probably decided by a committee of other members. (d) Other tasks will be assigned to Admin authority as the situation evolves. 3. Division Authority (a) Division authority can assign the 4 optional divisions to other members. i. This includes: Co-op Local, Local Insight, Co-op All Members, and National Analysis. ii. The question for members with Admin authority is: Who do you think would be qualified in meeting the requirements of the different co-op divisions? A. Co-op Local Who do you think would be ethical and fair in providing quality control? B. Local Insight Who do you think would provide quality information on subjects that are important to the local community? C. Co-op All Members Who do you think would provide quality information on

resources to help co-op members create quality information? D. National Analysis - Who do you think would provide quality information on subjects that are important to the whole Nation? (b) Division authority will be assigned to a large number of people. (c) Other tasks will be assigned to Division authority as the situation evolves. Future Co-op Divisions 1. MWI will also have the Future divisions of: (a) National Manufacturing i. This division will be for members who create or manufacture products that can be used in other states or countries. A. Ads in this division will not be allowed for members who only produce something locally such as a restaurant. ii. One General or Weblog ad per account will be allowed in this division. (b) National Service i. This division will be for members who services that can be used in other states. A. For example, A member who does technical writing as a service. ii. One General or Weblog ad per member will be allowed in this division. (c) National Resume i. This division will be for members who want to post a resume and are willing to relocate to another City or State. ii. One General or Weblog ad per member will be allowed in this division. (d) Education Local i. This division will be used by members of the cooperative who have knowledge that they wish to share in areas of local interest. A. This could be a default status given to all members. B. This status could be taken away if the privilege is abused by posting blatantly selfpromoting information. C. This division will have self help resources. The majority of the information will probably be: Self Help Videos that are attached to General Ad Spaces (Document Spaces). Self Help Information in Weblogs.

D. Members that use MWI for commercial use (paid Ad Spaces) have an incentive to post this type of information to show that they are community minded. Many people who view these ads will want to do business with these members. They will tend to

appreciate that they are community minded. E. Supporting local education will have a positive influence on people within the community who will become members of MWI just because they like the thought of supporting public education. F. The Proceeds from Premium Ad Spaces in this division will be used to fund educational resources at Public Libraries. This includes computers and educational resources that are accessible from those computers.

(e) Education All members i. This division will be used by members of the cooperative who have knowledge that they wish to share. A. The information is this division is not dependent on location. For example, how to use picnik photo editing software. B. This status could be taken away if the privilege is abused by posting blatantly selfpromoting information. C. This division will have self help resources. The majority of the information will probably be: Self Help Videos that are attached to General Ad Spaces (Document Spaces). Self Help Information in Weblogs.

D. Members that use MWI for commercial use (paid Ad Spaces) have an incentive to post this type of information to show that they are community minded. Many people who view these ads will want to do business with these members. They will tend to appreciate that they are community minded. E. Supporting public education will have a positive influence on people within a community who will become members of MWI just because they like the thought of supporting public education. F. The Proceeds from Premium Ad Spaces in this division will be used to fund educational resources at Public Libraries. G. This includes computers and educational resources that are accessible from those computers. (f) Daily Deal i. This will be restricted to On-Sale information and only allow a range of ad dates of 1 day. ii. The posted deal will be for the next day or the current day. iii. In the future Premium Ads in this division will be restricted to 1 day long. iv. The ability to send out a text or email message to members who have chosen to follow the merchant will also be added to this division. v. The use of Proceeds from Premium Ad Spaces in this division will be determined by the first elected Board of Directors.

(g) Donate Local i. Local Charities and other Non profit organizations that are requesting funding be allowed to post information here. ii. Organizations that are in the business of soliciting for donations for charitable causes will not be allowed to post information here. (h) Donate National i. Non profit organizations that are fulfilling a need that benefits everyone and are requesting funding be allowed to post information here. A. An example of this is medical research. ii. Organizations that are in the business of soliciting for donations for charitable causes will not be allowed to post information here.
