DUTIES OF AN ASST.MANAGER PROJECTS.

Assistant project managers carry out duties and responsibilities by assisting the project manager. Whether working within a small business large corporation, global non-profit, government organization or any other area, assistant project managers must be motivated, competent and reliable, and willing to undertake a wide range of tasks in assisting the project manager.

Organization

Assistant project managers must be adept organizers as oftentimes the bulk of the organization duties will fall on their shoulders. Elements of organization include organizing project files and other materials in areas such as scheduling, documentation and accounting.

Development
y

Assistant project managers often assist the project manager in developmental areas of the project. This includes helping to plan the project, helping to develop the plan implementation procedure, research and other preparation, developing a detailed time line, and evaluating and troubleshooting potential problems.

Scheduling
y

An assistant project manager oversees scheduling duties relating to the project at hand. This includes coordination meetings and acting as a liaison between relevant parties such as owners, contractors and engineers. It also involves managing the project manager's schedule to avoid time conflicts and make the schedule as smooth as possible.

Quality Control

Assistant project managers engage in quality control duties including inspection programs, equipment testing, and other tasks requiring close following of instructions and quality control standards.

Technical Assistant
y

Providing technical assistance and information to employees and subcontractors is often a duty of the assistant project manager. This technical assistance helps ensure that all standards and specifications relating to the project are met and complied with, whether they involve design, construction or any other potential project area.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical engineering information to company employees and subcontractors to ensure project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions. 2. Assist in evaluation and solution of potential field problems, referring them to PM. 3. Assist in plan and spec analysis in order to provide clear, trackable and coordinated interpretations of the design/drawings for construction. 4. Recommend solutions to design document problems, including conflicts, interferences and errors/omissions. 5. Participate in the continuous updating and accurate generation of as-built documents, assist with the research and preparation of field change requests to resolve design issues. 6. Conduct quality control activities in accordance with instructions, inspection programs, using specified control measuring and testing equipment.

7. Understand and perform document control functions in accordance with on-site policy and procedures, including tracking & creating of transmitting and tracking of submittals, compose agreements, and maintain project expediting list as per company policy and updated standards. 8. Perform additional assignments and responsibilities as assumed or requested by supervision.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:


1. Four year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training plus a minimum of five years construction experience. 2. Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to discipline. 3. Ability to assume responsibility and to interface and communicate effectively with others.
Experience of on site execution of all construction, installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning activities of 02 General Electric PG6111FA Gas Turbines & Siemens SST-900C steam turbine along with plant auxiliaries as an owners representative and verification of engineering work standards according to the EPC Contract. Preparation of detailed Monthly Progress Report. To advise the contractor personnel & construction consultant to progress, execute and achieve the planned works & also propose corrective and improvement actions for activities. Preparation of monthly project invoices as in accordance with projects overall progress percentage and contract payment terms. To participate in regular site and project coordination meetings to identify problems, target dates, issues, delays in execution of work to ensure timely project completion. Monitoring the document control system, filing structures and official correspondence with client and site team. PROJECT DEVELPOMENT EXPERIENCE: Consultation assist to Engineering head in Engineering project and Procurement of 225MW (2GT + 1ST) Combined Cycle Power Plant Project located at Sahiwal, Pakistan. Briefly mentioning my official role duties & the number of tasks been done as a Assistant Manager Power: Review and Inputs for draft Feasibility Report of the Project regarding mechanical equipments. Preparing document of Request for Proposal (RFP) of EPC (Eng ineering, Procurement, Construction) Contract O&M (Operation and Maintenance) Agreement expressing conditions of contract in accordance with FIDIC (International Federation for Consulting Engineers) to receive competent proposals from international reputable contractors. Developing evaluation for Contractors Proposals and tenders for proposed plant. Attending various queries/negotiations regarding RFP of EPC and O&M with the respective Bidders. Reviewing basic & detail drawings of all the engineering systems, also develop project scope of works according to the design criteria. Review and Inputs for PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) regarding cost & time schedules and liquidated damages. Review and comments on OSA (Oil Supply Agreement), Lenders engineer agreement and Air Dispersion Model for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Management of the project implementation schedule and follow-up of all standing issues with the EPC Contractor in the weekly & monthly meetings.

Designation: Assistant Manager Maintenance (July 2003 ~ Dec 2005) (Reliability Engineer) Crescent Bahuman Energy Ltd (Formerly Green Wood Ltd), Hafizabad, Pakistan. 14 MW Wartsila Reciprocating Engine Power Plant. Key Responsibilities My area of work was under the directi on of the Plant Manager; implements, coordinates and performs the Engineering support functions for Plant maintenance.

Performs monitoring and analysis of plant availability, thermal efficiency and environmental performance. Versatile experience in mechanical engineering field starting from installations to commissioning then operation & maintenance with sound knowledge of spares. Responsible for providing technical direction for daily preventative, predictive and forced maintenance plan using

CMMS & PIS system, plant improvements, process improvements, analyzing plant breakdowns and recommending corrective action. Hands on working experience of Operation & Maintenance of Wartsila & Mitsubishi Reciprocating Engine (18V32 x 2) having over all capacity of 14 MW Power plant. Maintain and update the plant engineering library and files pertaining to plant equipment, maintenance, testing and compliance. Direct and control major maintenance expenditures to remain with in budget guidelines. Successfully achieved the completion of Installation, Commissioning & Start-up of Wartsila Nohab Reciprocating Engine 16V25 and connected its auxiliaries with the existing plant. Provide engineering support to reduce emissions, equipments downtime & trouble shooting; results the efficiency improvement of equipments. Interface with the equipment OEMs as necessary. Plan, develop & conduct trainings for power house staff.

Designation: Assistant Manager Mechanical (Oct 2001 ~ July 2003) Sitara Energy Ltd, Faisalabad. 48 MW Niigata Reciprocating Engine Power Plant Key Responsibilities My area of work was to perform preventive & forced maintenance of all mechanical equipments of the power plant. My official job duties are stated as follows: Meeting with Manager Maintenance for daily work plan and job allocations for the respective staff. To issue work order permit before any task; ensuring the safe and reliable isolation of the equipment with the system, which is being carried out for the maintenance. To supervise maintenance staff regarding the mechanical section for daily work performed in the power plant. Hands on working for critical activities to perform maintenance according to the manufacturers recommendations. Perform test run of the e quipments after maintenance; in the presence of shift representative to assure reliability in operation. Time to time co-ordination with Manager Maintenance for task reporting. Maintain machine history record of mechanical tasks being executed accordingly using Oracle based software. Supervises annual calibration activities of all mechanical tools, pressure gauges, temperature gauges, other display indicators of various panels being used in power plant system. Operation and Maintenance experience on 48 MW Niigata Reciprocating Engine Power Plant. Hand on working experience with Niigata Reciprocating Engine 18V32CLX & Auxiliary Equipments such as Turbocharger, Charge Air Coolers, Air Compressors, Cooling Towers, Lube Oil Separators, Fuel Oil Separators and Heat Exchangers. Performing competently in operation of diesel engine power plant. Computer literacy: Computerized Machinery Management System (CMMS) Purchase Inventory System (PIS) Enterprise System (Oracle Based Software) CAD 2-D Primavera (P4) MS Office Other ISO Documentation Comments/ Hobbies/ Interests etc: Mechanical Journals

Description Assists Project Managers and Superintendents in managing field operations. Involvement in quality and project safety requirements. Involved in cost, schedule and procurement activities. Houston Regional Office and Field work. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or other related field from accredited program. No previous experience required. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Previous internship experience preferred.
