Communication Toolkit Facts Sheets and Resources

Create flyer or pamphlet to use to educate elected officials, key leaders and other community members on the Complete Streets Coalition. Revise Powerpoint provided by the MDCH to reflect local data and pictures for use in presentations to elected officials, key leaders, local organizations, clubs and and groups. Items needed: Pictures of Jackson streets. Distribute minimally one news or press release each quarter regarding complete streets information. This news release should include information on local efforts, contact person and action items for readers. Facts sheets and other information to assist coalition members in understanding concepts and terms in preparation for meetings with elected officials and key leaders. Solicit inidivuals to write letters to the editor regarding the importance of adopting complete streets policies / passing a complete streets ordinance.

Schedule a local radio / tv interview to provide information on complete streets to the community. Create a display with handouts and informational flyers that is available to take to any exhibits or gatherings where we would want to distribute information regarding complete streets. Create a petition for the purpose of collecting signatures in support of complete streets and who advocate for a complete streets ordinance in the City of Jackson. Create links to the Complete Streets website from local sites to build support and increase sites for knowledge building.
