INTRODUCTION

The world is getting closerWe can prominently say this in the present scenario of Film and Television Industry. I define Film as the most dynamic form of an art synchronized with various technical aspects. Light, camera, sound, action!! These four words are sufficient to create a picture of such a live form of art. A motion picture was one of the most important innovations of the last century. The development of this medium from simple Black & White silent documentaries to high-tech 3-D movies has proved the dominance of this industry over the world of entertainment and dedication of the people involved in this field. This progress took place probably in three phases the first phase is curiosity, the second one is popularity and the last one is as a medium of communication and education. Today, this medium has grown so powerfully that it has its own psychological, emotional and social impact on the people. This has made Film Industry as the most glamorous and popular medium of entertainment. Similarly Television Industry has also developed hand in hand with the Film Industry. It provided a wide scope for advertisements and documentaries, educational films, sports features, news telecast, etc. up to a great extent. It helps the common man to interact with various activities happening all around the world.

NEED OF THE PROJECT

The exposure of the common man to Film and Television in its various forms is so frequent that its existence has been taken for granted. This art form has its peculiarities like any art form and a would-be film maker needs training to master this highly technical and complicated art. This is the basic purpose of setting up such institute in Kolhapur. A dearth of Film and Television Institutes in India and a lack of design awareness about this specialized field create a necessity to study the design criteria of an F.T.I. These institutes are the part of new wave of artistic expressions which are struggling to improve upon their limitations. Moreover, as there are limited knowledge about the process of film making. Thus, this project is an attempt to deal with process of film making, spaces required for training this process and their linkages or inter-relationship. I am very much honored to analyze and design such structure by dealing with multi-environmental scenario to be incorporated into my design.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

1. To provide a firm platform for the people who are interested in this field but unable to develop their skill by dwelling into metros.

2. To educate and train them to the highest standards for employment in this field.

3. To provide international network of contacts and exchange for staff, students and graduates of the institute.

4. To encourage diversity, experimentation and innovation in each aspect of this field.

5. To contribute in the creative and cultural development of the industry.

6. To set an international level of standard in Film and Television Training in an Indian context.

SCOPE
Film has in itself a great dynamism. It is a strong medium capable of integrating all the characters of visualization in a substantial manner and synchronizing that with sound, light and color. A great amount of time and money is involved in the production of the film and also in viewing them too. As an industry, it requires qualified and skilled labors and technicians for their production work, the same kind of requirement is been shown by the film and television industry till now by a consistent development in production techniques. Thus, to regularize and put this field in the responsible hands that would be able to utilize this medium for peoples welfare by their thorough knowledge, resource is required where the people interested in acquiring a cognizance of this field. Television production can be trained and guided properly where they would nurture their skills & become qualified. This let to birth of F.T.I. A building is a static form of an art. Dynamism in a built structure is possible only when an architect analyses the space by visualization and synchronizes those characters that are integral part of the film. It would be interesting experience to deal with these aspects.

METHODOLOGY
The study aims to understand the procedure of film production, functions of various departments and to develop the functional requirements for film training institute The study will primarily involve those aspects of film production which later to the professional Indian Film & Television Industry, these being 1. Film direction 2. Film editing 3. Cinematography 4. Sound recording & sound engineering 5. Processing 6. Acting These six components encompass the vital function of film making from the pre-production stage to production.

PURPOSE OF SELECTING THE TOPIC

In India, media is getting importance not only for entertainment but also as a widest mean of mass communication & education. Its useful for social, cultural, commercial & industrial development. Media has the power to change the society & mould the future of nation. Today, people are considering this as a conventional industry and have started looking at it as a respected profession rather than glamorous one. These fields have been accentuating the economy of country since it came in to existence as an industry. The basic purpose of this topic is to co-ordinate the people who are enthusiastic about this field irrespective of the place. People from rural areas are basically focused from location point of view. This industry is not new for Kolhapur. Kolhapur has seen the golden era of industry in the form of CHITRANAGARI & JAY PRABHAT STUDIO. This is my humble effort to reform that era and let people understand the beauty and passion of this field through my project.
