MOTHTIGHT
(Dir. Stan Brakhage,1963, color, silent, 4 mir.) When he had no money to buy film stock, Brakhage conceived the idea of naking a film out of natural material through which light could pass. (1987, d. Bigas Luna, 85 miry free admission) I love movies within movies, but this one really hammers home the mind-fuck potential of the Mobius strip movie. If ever there rvas a movie that deserves to be seen in a theater, this is it. Director Bigas Luna (lamon lamon) plays on the viewer's most elementary fears in ways you've never seen or imagined. It's impossible to describe the many convolutions of reality and fantasy at play here without ruining the movie for you. So for once just trust me. Would I be

Brand new restored and remastered prhtl Steven Spielberg's Ralders of the Lost Ark plays like an anthology of the best parts from all the Saturday matinee serials ever made. It takes place in Afric4 Nepal, Egypt, at sea md in a secret submarine base. It contains trucks, bulldozers, tanks, motorcycles, ships, subs, Clippers, md a Nazi flying wing. It has snakes, spiders, booby traps and explosives. The hero is trapped in a snake pit, and the heroine finds herself assaulted by mummies. The weapons range from revolvers and machine guns to machetes and whips. It's a Boy's Own Adventure, a whiz-bang slamarama, a Bruised Forearm movie (you squeeze the arm of your date every time something startles you). It's done with a kind of heedless joy. THE ORIGINAT BOTTTE ROCKET SHORT BEFORE THE FI[i/I! THURS-SAL JUNE 19-21 , MIDNIGHL SUN, JUNE 22 4:30 There is a great divide about this film: A limp2 stars from Ebert, Mick LaSalle from the San Francisco Chronicle (whom I generally respect) gives it one star and calls it wretched. Did these people see the same film I did? Of all the movies I have seen in the last 10 years (and that is a LOT of movies), no other film has made me laugh so convuisively that I had to forus all power not to wet my pants. Everything that is wonderful about Wes Anderson and the Wilson brothers, every subtlety, every comic sensibility, every nonsensical character quirk is at peak form in Botfle Rockef. Thii isn't a matter of "taste," not a matter of "evervone has their own opinion." Bottle Rocket is flat out hysterical.' It is a universal, mdeniable truth, and those who disagree are simply wong. As an extra bonus before Bolfle Roc,tef, check out the ultra-rare short fiLm (also called Botfle Rocket), thaf when seen by producer Albert Brooks, inspired him to sign a check then and there for 95 million so these boys could get started with their careers.

A threat to young minds, racial harmony and nerchandising revenue, WB has disowned much of the early work of some of animation's greatest directors; Tex Avery, Bob Clampett, Frank Tashlin and the late, irreplaceable Chuck iones. The Chucky Lou AV Club comes to the Alamo to present two hours of uncut, uncensored irresponsibility from these hidden vaults. knew Elvis was Jewish until the influential Wall Streei JournJl published an article h 1998, 'Ail Shook Up in the Holy Land' exposing the King's improbable lineage. Elvis was very aware of his Jewish roots, according to Gracelmd spokesman Todd Morgan who told the Journal, 'lt was something Elvis was aware of and certainly was sensitive to.' Schmeluis is the story of a true life Montreal-based Jewish Elvis impersonator named Dan Hartal. For years, Hartal has worked as an entertainer at Jewish senior citizens' homes in his incarnation as Schmelvis - singing his own versions of Elvis songs in a Jewish musical style. Schmehls follows Hartal on a bizarre odyssey to Elvis's Graceland home in Memphis to say Kaddish - the Jewish prayer {or the dead at Elvis's grave. Stopping at roadside diners in his Winnebago down Highway 61, Schmelvis mingles with rednecks, truckers, white trash and middle Americans. Bizarre and unpredictable reactions result as he tries to convince his fellow travelers that Elvis was a Jew. Schmelais sheds fascinating light onto contemporary idol worship and the serious quest of an Orthodox Jew in an Elvis costume.

known as one of the premiere meeting and conference facilities in Austin. Our powerful audio-visual equipment makes for impressive presentations, our flexible iatering staff can set the tone you want, and the entertainment options offer a per{ect way to unwind following the business at hand.
Mr. Sinus Theater 3000: Based on the popular tv show lvlystery ScienceTheater, our version combines live comedy with skits and musical interludes. The Mr. Sinus comedians take some of the world's worst movies and turn them into a roilicking good time by adding comedic dialog and commentary This is one of the Alamo's most popular special events, drawing sold-out crowds almost every time.
Food themed. movies: Many popular movies revolve around food. For the Alamo's two -year armiversary, we created a fivecourse meal that followed the progression of dishes served in the romantic epicurean masierpiece Like Water For Chocolate. The possibilities are endless, and or kitchen staff is ready to prepare a menu specific to your event.
Alamo on the Road: Last summer marked the first Alamo off-site event ever! The outing was based on the movle Deliuer, nce in which four city dwellers plan a canoe trip on the last wild river in the South, soon doomei to extinction by the construction of a dam.. They, face the dangers of the river and the elements, and finally the ultimately terrifying encounter of man against man. We planr.red a canoe trip on the Colorado River which ended up at a picnic by the banks of the river with music, fo'od and beer. When the sun went down we had a massive 40 foot movie screen erected on the bunkr of the river and watchei Deliaerrmce under the stars. We also have in the works other film outings, including a temporary drive-in for a week-long festival this spring.
From meetings and presentation to team-building sessions and awards ceremonies, or just Alamo has proven to be a perfect site for parties o{ all ages.
