KNOWN PROBLEMS
Most notebooks and some desktop PCs dispose of a power manager. Power manager blocks for short time the CPU. Caused by this, the precision of time administration from the Com-Ports will be impaired. This may result in error reports. In order to prevent this, you should switch off the power manager. Options from the power manager can be: - in the BIOS-Setup - in the le CONFIG.SYS (example Power.exe) - in the le SYSTEM.INI-File (example Vpowerd.386) or - under properties system options energy.
The communication interface cable between the computer and the digital controller is a RS232 cable. Only the RxD, TxD and GND signals are needed.
PIN 2: TxD PIN 3: RxD PIN 5: GND
Note: It is only allowed to connect RxD, TxD and GND. With a standard RS232 cable you can damage your computer under certain conditions.
5. Select and load a TCF-le. Use Menu File Open TCF-File or use the button
Load TCF-File Screen
You can quit the WinGPI over the menu File Exit.
THE WINDOWS
The screen of the WinGPI is divided in one text window and in graphic windows.
In this area the WinGPI displays alphanumeric data. There are two kinds of windows: Analog windows that show a simple analog instrument and XY windows that show a XY plotter. With the standard windows functions (keyboard and mouse), you are able to zoom the graphic windows.
Load TCF-File
After you pressed this menu item, you can select a TCF-le to load. You also can specify a TCF-le in the Command-Line and WinGPI will load this one automatically while starting.
Edit TCF-File
If you are authorized, you can select this item and edit a TCF-le.
It is possible to reprogram the digital system. Use this menu item or the short cut , before starting the digital controller. You can select an application HEX-le to download. Or you specify a le in the Command-Line and WinGPI will start the download directly you power on the digital controller. Also you can use the short cut
Select HEX-File Screen
Select one HEX-le. After pushing the key the download screen appears and the selected HEX-le is programmed into the digital system.
HEX-File Donwload Screen
After successful download of the HEX-le the digital system starts operating and the opening screen appears.

Connect
Select this menu item to connect WinGPI with the digital controller (Open Com-port). When you start the WinGPI program, WinGPI connects automatically to the digital controller with the selected Com-Port and the default baudrate 19200 Baud. Different ways to specify the Com-Port which you want to use: specify the Com-Port in the Command Line specify the Com-Port in the Terminal Control File specify the Com-Port in the INI-File These declarations have a different priority. The highest priority is the declaration in the command line. This Com-Port will use the whole time as you run this program, even if there are Com-Ports specied in the TCF-le or INI-le. If no Com-Port is specied in the command line WinGPI use the declaration from the INI-le. But if another Com-Port is declared in the TCF-le WinGPI use this one and save this into the INI-le.

Help
If the WinGPI is running and the digital system is started as described above the system enters a Setup Mode. In this mode parameter change and sensor setup can be made as necessary.
Setup Mode
The Setup Mode is i.e. introduced by a Warning Screen, a System Information Screen and a Check Screen followed by a Main Menu. There are several setup screens that can be entered from the Main Menu. The setup screens depend on the application software. You leave the Setup Mode and enter the Run Mode by entering a followed by a in the Main Menu.
Run Mode
After entering followed by a in the Main Menu you are in the Run Mode. Once you have entered the Run Mode the rst of the available run screens is displayed and the digital system starts working. There are several run screens which depend on application software. You can switch between these run screens by entering a corresponding key. To return to the Setup Mode from the Run Mode enter .
VERSION 2.01
New Functions and Changes Function to select delay time for transmit. Bug Fixes No function transmit data with active delay time (problem since 2.00, not 1.00).
VERSION 2.10
New Functions and Changes Add function to update kernel and application over INI-le description. Add command line parameter to adjust interpreter time-out (-TOutx). New default value for timeout is 1000ms (old 500ms). Add command line parameter to disable interpreter error (-error). Add function to trace RS232 data (-trace). Bug Fixes Transmit delay is direct active with old wingpi.INI-les (only rst time). Wrong text (set mid and set min in DIA3). Problem Windows NT (use string, which is not dened in TCF-le). Wrong path for LOG-les (now no information in window caption). Download length > 127 in shown info. Convert HEX-PRM start address is not correct (only 196). Help button in text window enabling was not correct. Registry problems under NT (administrator installation works now). Fix problem status line active. Fix problem log-data.
BLN-96-9911-E Rev. F 10/2003
VERSION 2.40
New Functions and Changes enhanced customizing features only touching the TCF les by optionally: - hiding particular parameters on TCF screens selectively. - hiding specic TCF screens in customized TCF les. - introducing the MAP command to redirect keyboard inputs. add conspicuous PROTOTYP bitmap in the TCF window to optionally emphasize the prototyp status. xed baudrate setting via command line for bootstrap download. Bug Fixes prevent from WinGPI crashing if a string in the parameter description le is longer than indicated by corresponding memory label. convert menu destination les do not have to already exist anymore if started with WinOld-ag (usually only if running on Windows ME). the [parameter] section in the parameter description le was limited to 255 characters in total, now it is extended to 1024 characters.
