s.Coursecomponents include:onlineandofflinevocabularybuildingactivities,grammarreviewandpractice,assignedreadingsinavarietyofgenres, criticalculturalanalysis,inclassdiscussions,writtenessays,andtheviewingoffilms.The3creditcoursewillbeconductedin Spanish.TheprerequisitesforthiscourseareSpanish305,appropriateproficiencylevel 1 ,orpermissionoftheinstructor.Heritage speakerswhowishtomajorinSpanishareencouragedtotakeSPAN315andanothercourseatthe300leveltofulfillthe requirementsfortheprogram. OBJECTIVES TodevelopreadingskillsinSpanishsothatstudentscanunderstanddifferenttypesoftextsandinteractwithotherreaders abouttheircontent,structure,andstyle. ToimprovewritingskillsinSpanishbyproducingtextsontopicsrelatedtoclassdiscussions. Toimprovespeakingproficiencyonavarietyoftopics,withaparticularemphasisonculturaldiscussions. Toenhancelisteningcomprehensionskills. Toexpandstudentsvocabularyinthetargetlanguageandreviewgrammaticalconceptsinordertoimprovetheaccuracy oftheiroralandwrittenexpression. Theseoralassignments,whichcountfor10%ofthegrade,areinformalpresentationsaboutcoursetopicsorthe progress/discoveringsmadeinthereflectivejournal.Ifastudentisabsentduringaclassperioddedicatedtooralhomework,they willreceivea0fortheassignment.Studentsthatarrivelatearebeingdisruptiveandmayalsomisssomeimportantinformation givenatthebeginningofclass.Studentsareresponsibleforturninginmaterialforclassthedayitisdueormakingspecial arrangementswhennecessary.Itisimportanttoexchangephoneandemailinformationwithatleasttwoclassmatesintheevent ofanunavoidableabsence.
