General Information

Name: Josue Natanael Sorto Garcia Career: English Major Subject: Module III Gestin de recursos tecnolgicos para la enseanza y administracin del idioma Ingles. Tittle: To analyze and give a brief description of the use of VARK for educational purposes. Date: San Salvador, September 2011 INTRODUCTION To define and analyse the use of VARK as a methodological tool for educational purposes, and the importance of knowing my personal learning style to develop a better performance in the learning process. VARK is a questionnaire that provides people a full description of strengths and weaknesses of their learning style, it purpose is to help people to address better his skills in order to input process and output information. VARK is a term that stands for visual, aural, read/write, and kinaesthetic; skills that are used to process and manipulate activities during the learning process. There is an importance to identify the skills that better fit people; if everyone knew what are his/her potentials, everyone would be doing the correct activities to perform better The test result and the description of my learning style The VARK Questionnaire Results Your scores were: Visual: 8 Aural: 0 Read/Write: 7 Kinesthetic: 9 I have a multimodal (ARK) learning preference. Multimodal Study Strategies A multimodal style of learning means that I have a combination of strengths of the learning styles to be performed during my learning process and common daily activities. Unfortunately the aural skill does not match well with me due to I am not good learning by listening; I need to focus on diagrams or charts that best explain the contents to study and take notes in order to remain information in my brain. I am pretty sure that I have a good advantage, even though I cannot remain information just by listening I can learn a lot by reading or doing a proper research of what I have to learn and do, I can learn a lot of things due to I like to be immersed around the world and be part of the learning performance, because I like to practice what I learn the most as possible. The scores above infer that I can learn things better by practicing due to that is the best learning style that goes with me however I do not have to forget that I am good learning

by reading and following instructions and patterns that best describes the contents to study and develop. According to my score, READ/WRITE category is the highest which means that I need to apply more strategies of learning and communicating from that category; but, I understand that I could use strategies from the other styles. 4. CONCLUSION

A VARK questionnaire can be used to demonstrate and show the candidate a more general idea of the skills and learning styles he might be involved with, however it is not reliable at all due to the results are based only on a few questions that probably have a general relationship with the skills and learning styles of the user. In the other hand, the best way to demonstrate and notice the learning style we have is by practicing and learn things as we feel more comfortable; listening speechs, taking notes, following patterns or diagrams, doing research etc. The learning and communication strategies provided by a VARK questionnaire are more than useful. I am planning to use them not only during the semester but all my life because it can be as a guideline to follow in order to use the strategies and techniques that address better my learning needs.
