Refer to Owners Manual for detailed information. Illustrations may depict left-hand drive vehicles. Operation is similar for right-hand drive vehicles. Depending on the model variant, special equipment and accessories, the scope of equipment on your vehicle may differ from the descriptions in this guide.

Automatic transmission: P = park R = reverse N = neutral D = drive The selector lever can only be moved out of P or N when the ignition is on and the foot brake is depressed (selector lever lock). To engage P or R, push button on selector lever. When position N is selected, depress foot brake or engage parking brake before starting.

Version with ActiveSelect: To engage manual shift mode, move selector lever from D to the left, then forwards or backwards.

Opening the load compartment: To open the tailgate, press the button under the moulding after unlocking the vehicle. Opening the bonnet: Pull release lever below instrument panel on drivers side and return it to its original position. Lift the safety catch upwards and open the bonnet. Secure the bonnet support. Parking brake: Always apply firmly without operating release button and apply as firmly as possible on uphill or downhill slopes.

Automatic light control: Light switch set to AUTO: When the engine is running, headlights are switched on when external light conditions are poor. For safety reasons, the light switch should always remain in the AUTO position. Move light switch to position 9 if visibility is poor due to fog or mist.

Turn and lane-change signals: Lever up = Right turn signal Lever down = Left turn signal If the lever is moved past the resistance point, the turn signal is switched on constantly. When the steering wheel is moved back the turn signal is automatically deactivated. For three flashes, e.g. when changing lanes, press the lever until resistance is felt and then release. Move lever to resistance point and hold for longer indication. Switch the turn signal off manually by moving the lever slightly.

Hazard warning flashers: Operated with the button. In the event of an accident where the airbags are deployed the hazard warning flashers are activated automatically.

Windscreen wiper: & = Fast % = Slow $ = Timed interval wiping or automatic wiping with rain sensor = Off For a single wipe when the windscreen wiper is off, press the lever down. Do not use if the windscreen is frozen. Switch off in car washes.

Head restraint adjustment: Press the release button, adjust height and engage. The upper edge of the head restraint should be level with the top of the head.

Seat belt: Withdraw seat belt from retractor, guide it untwisted across the body and insert latch plate in belt buckle. To release belt, press red button on belt buckle.

Headlight flash, high beam and low beam: Headlight flash = Pull lever High beam = Push lever Low beam = Pull or push lever

Windscreen and headlight washer: Pull lever. Washer fluid is sprayed onto the windscreen and the wiper wipes for a few strokes. If the headlights are on, washer fluid is also sprayed onto the headlights. The headlight washer system is then inoperable for 2 minutes.

Seat position: Sit with buttocks as far back against backrest as possible. Adjust distance between seat and pedals so that legs are slightly angled when depressing pedals.

Interior mirror: To reduce dazzle, adjust the lever on the underside of the mirror housing. Automatic anti-dazzle interior mirror: Dazzle from following vehicles is automatically reduced.

Electrical exterior mirrors: Select the relevant exterior mirror and adjust. Press the n button to fold exterior mirrors. Press again to return them to their original position. Manual exterior mirrors: Adjust mirrors by swivelling lever in required direction.
