PORT LIMITS: Seaward limits: Between Lat 4o 03' N and Lat 3o 44' .5 and Long 103o 34' E PILOTAGE: Frequency: Port Control: Ch 16; 13 20 Pilot Vessels & Tugs: Ch 12; or other Fx on request Procedure: i. Pilotage is compulsory and is available H24. ii. Vessels should send ETA to Marine Manager at least 24h in advance through Pinang(9MG) . iii. Vessels should confirm by VHF to Port Control 2h in advance. This massage should contain the following information :Vessel's name and official number, nationality, GRT, NRT, deepest arrival draught and displacement , LOA, Special berthing requirements and cargo details as required by the operators. iv. Vessels should send ETD to Port Control at least 2h in advance. v. Pilot boards 4 n miles SE of Tanjong Gelang Lt, E of the Fairway buoy (3( 55'.55 N 103( 29'.25E) (in bad weather small vessels may be boarded inside the harbour). NAVIGATIONAL APPROACH: A straight 0.2 nautical mile wide channel aligned on 311 (T) leads from pilot boarding system (fairway buoy) to harbour entrance length of this channel is 4 nautical mile. The dredged length (0.65 nautical mile cables) is marked by 2 pairs of light buoys. Leading lights mark the centre line of the channel with minimum depth of 13km. During North-East monsoon (from October to February ) underkeel clearance (allowance) of 3m is required. ANCHORAGE: Reserved anchorages are available for ships carrying general cargo explosives and Petroleum products, suspect or unhealthy ships. Pilotage is compulsory. Drafts of up to 11.5m can be accommodated safely.
