Sample Activities
Have students guess what school supply they have in their hand while blindfolded. Have students ask yes/no questions to the class to gather information before making a guess. Have students identify objects found in the classroom. Students can make a collage, or picture dictionary, by cutting out pictures from store circulars, pasting and labeling the pictures in their notebook. Practice possessive adjectives by having each student place a classroom object in a bag. As each student takes an item out of the bag have them use my XX, her XX, to identify who owns the object. Make a chart with the daily routines, such as brushes teeth, washes face, across the top and the names of students in the left column. Ask students when they do each activity. Students can draw a clock face on the chart with the time when they do each activity. Read XXX to students and complete a sequencing chart as a class. Then, have students fill out a sequencing chart to describe their own daily routine. While singing the song Tick Around the Clock students can pretend to be clocks by using their arms to represent the hands of a clock. Make clocks with the class using a brass fastener and opalina , heavy weight paper. As the teacher reviews the hours of the day, the students should move the first hand or the big hand to the correct time. Other: Have students review parts of the body by playing Simon Says and labeling a picture of the body.

Have students color a picture of a persons head and label the body part for each sense. Have students play the memory game to reinforce new vocabulary for illnesses and vocabulary for parts of the body. Using cut outs or realia have students move items as sentences are said, e.g. The book is under the chair. Have students pretend to call each other on the phone and ask to speak with different family members. The other students must make up excuses saying they are busy. Weather Seasons Months of the year Clothes

Students will be able to describe the weather in different pictures. Students will be able to identify the clothes they are wearing. Students will be able to categorize clothing by when it is worn, summer, fall, winter, spring.

Have students draw and label pictures of different kinds of weather. Have students label and sequence pictures of different seasons. Bring in clothing and have students practice identifying it. Later have students sort clothing by when its worn, e.g. autumn, winter, spring, summer. Have students create a paper doll. Students can dress the doll and describe what the doll looks like and what its wearing. Have one student describe what someone is wearing in a picture while the other students dress their paper doll in the clothes mentioned. Later, have the students show the picture to the class to check comprehension. Create a birthday calendar and have students practice asking/answering, When is your birthday? Introduce activities students do during different seasons. Have students classify activities by seasons. For example, you build a snowman in the winter, and you swim in the summer. Other:

Give students a worksheet with a picture of a cup, plate, fork, spoon, and knife. Have students cut out these five items and practice identifying them. Students may want to decorate the plate and cup before cutting them out. Have students cut and paste pictures of food on a t-chart by likes/dislikes. Students can then label the foods. Bring in realia and set up a picnic in the classroom. While a small group of students pretend to have a picnic, ask the class to describe what is happening. Teach the students the rules to hidenseek and play a game outside. Have students practice stating what they can and cant do with the conjunction but.
