Randwick Councils LEP 1998 identifies few local Items of Heritage Signifi cance in and around Matraville Town Centre. Three houses in Baird Ave have been identifi ed. In Bunnerong Road, the Matraville Hotel has been identifi ed and marks an important southern gateway to the Town Centre at the intersection of Bunnerong Rd and Perry St. A row of InterWar shops and residences (constructed in 1927 and known as the Iresons corner) on the western side of Bunnerong Road on the south west corner with Beauchamp Road was identifi ed by the 1987 Randwick Heritage Study as one of the oldest buildings in the area.
