New process for follow-up – process steps

After a training course is finished, subsequent process steps take place:

 Confirm the participation


 state if the learner actually attended
 Evaluate the participation
 state if the learner passed or failed and , if needed, reason for failure
 Follow-up the participation:
 Transfer of qualification with validity, with or w/o the option to adjust the
proficiency
 Follow-up training course
 Set a course as finished (follow- up completed), with or without historic
record

 Optional for regulated industries: confirmation with digital signature

New process for follow-up – roles

All process steps can be carried out by different roles according to the user
interfaces:

 Involves learners and administrator in the process (later: instructors)


 Defines the contribution of each role to the single process step
 All process steps are optional
 Digital signature optional per process and area/role

Re-design of correspondence –
Process and Technology

The correspondence process and the technology have been re-designed:

 State-of-the-art technology used: Adobe (pdf) used, also for form templates
 Improved process coverage of the correspondence process: worklist-based approach
 Customizing is done per delivery method and can be overridden by coursetype-specific
settings
 Sender can be flexibly determined (BADI) and recipient(s) per roles (learner, manager etc.)

Re-design of correspondence – existing customers

Customers that are using the existing SAPscript-based correspondence


should consider the following:

 Customer have to decide between existing and new request-based


correspondence functionality
 No migration support of templates from SAPscript to PDF
 New customizing and BAdIs are only available for the new
correspondence solution
 Some limitations apply (compared to SAPscript-based correspondence)
 No Archiving and no error workflow (but error worklist)
 Word serial letter no longer supported
 Telex no longer supported

 SAPscript-based correspondence will be frozen, only maintenance, no


further development

Curriculum enhancements

Major improvements to the curriculum have been made based on


customer feedback:
 Sequencing of WBTs possible
 in addition to the licence period adjustment
 overlapping participations are allowed (in contrast to time-dependent courses)

Metadata maintenance and search

In order to leverage the reuse of learning objects, authors should be able to


perform a structured search along metadata to find appropriate learning
objects:
 Consistent metadata maintenance
 defining own metadata fields, setting fields to
mandatory/optional
 supporting existing standards (e.g. LOM, Dublin Core)

 Powerful metadata search

Process for managing outdated content

In order to manage outdated content, authors can mark content as


obsolete:
 Existing courses remain untouched
 existing bookings are not affected
 For new courses, the content is no longer available
 when assigning the content to courses, the obsolete courses are no longer
visible for the course administrator in the publisher’s database
 No physical deletion of content

Learning content versioning enhancements

Customers want to control the versioning of content:


 Delta versioning for reuse objects
 in new versions of objects only changed files are stored
 a new version is still created for every change
 no support to change existing versions

 Minor changes should reduce efforts for new version

Improvements in the import process:


 Import can be carried out in the Repository Explorer
 Direct import / conversion (without AE)
 Support processing of a course in one job

 All neccesary steps can be processed automatically in one job


 Import into local repository (e.g. LNP, PIF, files, ...)
 Conversion (if required: e.g. SCORM course)

Content / Course dependent learning strategies


 Learners are able to select a valid learning strategy when navigating through a course in the
Content Player
 Authors can set valid strategies per course

Content-dependent User Interface of the Content Player


 Content can modify appearance of Content Player
 e.g. Content can hide the navigation bar of the content player

 Customers are not forced to use the Java Plug-in any longer
 Positive impact on stability and performance when a learner starts a course

Other enhancements of the content player


 Learners who want to re-do a course are able to reset their individual learning progress
 The error handling was optimized.

Content and Offline Player enhancements II

To avoid loss of information browser close handling & time out handling
was improved
 Explicit use of Log off function not needed anymore
 Closing the browser is sufficient to immediately update learning progress
 Warning message prior to a session time-out

The User interface of the Offline Player was not consistent to other
components (e.g. icons, menu structure). The User Interface was
harmonized.

 Putting together the menus ‚File‘ and ‚View‘
