ASSEMBLY AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Note: Any reference to orientation (left or right) is from the passengers point of view while in the trailer.

STEP 1
1

Remove the trailer from the carton and compare the contents with the parts list

Remove all contents from inside the carton and place them on a clean flat surface. Lift open the frame and remove all of the unattached parts from inside the trailer. Compare them with the parts list above to make sure that no parts are missing. If any parts are missing or damaged, do not return this carrier to the store. Contact our customer service department at info@kidarooz.com or 1-866-543-2766. WARNING Immediately discard all plastic bags and plastic wrapping materials!

STEP 2
2A

Assembling the front bumper

2B 2C

2A 2B

The bumper mounts to the trailer at the four bumper locations illustrated with arrows. Place a plastic washer onto each of the two threaded studs (illustrated by the black arrows). Align the bumper to the front of the trailer so that the reflectors are above the bumper. Push the bumpers front two threaded studs through the holes in the front of the trailer. From the inside of the trailer, thread a nut until hand tight onto each of the threaded studs (Do not tighten with the wrench until after step 2C). For the two side mounting locations, from the inside of the trailer, push the bolts through the trailers lower frame. There are nuts already installed inside the bumper. Using the Allen key provided, tighten the bolts. The nuts hand tightened in procedure 2B now need to be fully tightened with the wrench provided.

2C

STEP 3

Unfolding and folding the trailer

3A 3B

3A 3B

To unfold the trailers passenger compartment, pull the upper frame upwards while holding the base of the carrier to the ground. From the inside of the trailers rear compartment, pull back on the rear U-frame (the upper portion of the seat wraps around the top of this tube) until the right hand pivoting plastic bracket hooks over the right rear tube. (See 3C). 3C 3D

3C

To prevent accidental folding, an automatically engaging locking pin is integrated into this right hand bracket. To verify that the automatic pin has engaged, you should not be able to rotate the right hand bracket inwards (without releasing the red button). Rotate the left hand plastic pivoting bracket clockwise until it securely hooks over the left rear tube.

3D

To fold the trailer, follow the above steps in reverse order. Rotate the left hand bracket inwards. Then pull the red button on the right hand bracket towards the rear of the trailer and rotate the right hand bracket inwards. Push the rear U-frame forwards and the trailer will fold flat. Note: The red button on the right hand bracket must be released before folding the trailer, otherwise you could damage the frame. WARNING Ensure that the pivoting plastic brackets are correctly locked before using the trailer! Failure to do so could cause the carrier to collapse and result in a serious injuries or death to the occupants!

STEP 4

Wheel assembly
4A 4B

4A 4B

Depress the rubber cap on the wheel hub with your thumb. Fully insert the clevis axle into the hollow axle mount located on the side of the trailer (just in front of the parking brake). Once fully inserted, remove your thumb from the rubber cap and you should hear a click sound.

IMPORTANT! To ensure the axle system is engaged properly, test by trying to pull the wheel outwards. The wheel should not move as it is locked in its installed position. WARNING: Before each ride ensure the wheels and axles are properly assembled! Failure to do so could result in the wheels separating from the trailer and could result in an accident occurring and serious injuries or death to the occupants!

STEP 5

Safety flag installation and attaching additional lights (not included)

5A 5B

5A

There is a slot located in the upper left corner of the flap covering the rear cargo compartment. Insert the flag in the slot and into the hole located in the plastic cap. Slide the flag down into hole until the flag touches the bottom of the tube. Trailering at night is not recommended, however if necessary always use rear lights. There are two web loops sewn on the upper portion of the flap that covers the rear compartment. Sold separately battery powered lights can be attached to these loops. WARNING Always install the safety flag when trailering and attach lights (sold separately) to the rear of the trailer if riding in poor visibility conditions! Failure to do so could result in the trailer not being seen and could result in an accident occurring and serious injuries or death to the occupants!

5B

STEP 6

Adjusting the seat tension and padded headrest removal

6A 6B

6A

Behind the seat you will see the seat is attached using adjustable web straps. This is done to improve child comfort, as the tension in the seat back can be adjusted using these straps. If the seat back begins to sag, tighten these straps. If the seat back is too firm, you can loosen these straps slightly. A padded headrest is provided with the carrier, held in place by Velcro strips. This headrest can be removed for washing.

6B

STEP 7

Attaching the trailer arm

7A 7B

Note: When you first attach the trailer arm, we recommend that you tip the trailer back on an even and clean surface, so that you have a better view and can more easily familiarise yourself with the attachment system. 7A 7B Align the bolt on the outside of the trailer arm with the slot in the trailers black attachment bracket (located on the front lower left side of the trailer). Push the trailer arm up into the slot as far as possible.

7C

7D

7E

7C 7D 7E

Pivot the trailer arm up into the slot as far as possible. With the trailer arm pivoted all the way up, insert the safety pin through both sides of the attachment bracket. The pin should trap the trailer arm in the attachment bracket. The safety pins loop must be pulled over end of the pins shaft into the locked position, so that the pin cannot accidentally fall out. WARNING: Before using the trailer, ensure that the trailer arms safety pin is properly locked. Failure to do so could result in the loss of the trailer, resulting in serious injuries or death to the occupants!

STEP 8

Attaching the trailer hitch coupling to your bicycle

IMPORTANT! This trailers universal hitch coupling is suitable for bicycles with a round or oval chain stay with a tube diameter range of 14 mm - 22 mm. Do not use the trailer if your bicycle does not fit into this range! 8A 8B 8C 8C

8A 8B

Open the hitch couplings clamp by turning the large black knob counter-clockwise. Position the hitch coupling as far rearward as possible on the bicycles lower rear tube (chain stay). Turn the knob clockwise until the knob is very tight and the hitch coupling cannot slide.

IMPORTANT! A hitch coupling that is loosely attached could either slip sideways into the spokes or forwards in the direction of the bottom bracket during braking. Therefore, check that the knob is tight before every ride and regularly during longer rides. 8C Wrap the hitch couplings back-up safety strap around the bicycles chain stay and clip it onto the d-ring on the trailer arm. Regularly inspect the straps webbing and hardware, ensuring that they are in good condition. Do not ride if there is any damage to the safety strap. WARNING Before each ride ensure that the hitch coupling is securely tightened on the chain stay and that the back-up safety strap is properly installed (and not damaged)! Failure to do this could result in an accident and serious injury or death to the cyclist and occupants!

STEP 9
9A

Seat belts attachment

9B

Proper seating position for two children: A. Undo the lap belt buckle and seat the children side by side in the trailer. B. Buckle the lap belt over both childrens laps, and pull the strap until the belt is snug. C. Place an outer crotch strap between each of the childrens legs. D. Pull the two ends of the each of the shoulder harnesses over the childrens shoulders and clip the buckles located on the ends of the shoulder straps onto the D rings located on the crotch straps. E. Adjust the shoulder straps heights such that the upper buckles are at the same height as the top of the childrens shoulders. F. Pull the shoulder straps loose ends until they are snug. IMPORTANT! Adjust the straps so that the D ring is located at the childs stomach level, not at chest level. 9B Proper seating position for one child: Note: For the first use of your Kidarooz, you will need to change the seat from having two padded shoulder harnesses into one center positioned harness. To do this you need to un-thread the four vertical shoulder straps from the sleeves on the two padded harnesses. You will then re-thread the two center shoulder straps into the sleeves on one of the padded harnesses. This padded harness will now be positioned in the center of the carriers seat. So that you do not misplace the second unused padded harness, we suggest that you store it in the pocket located behind the seat. A. Undo the lap belt buckle and seat the child in the centre of the trailer. B. Buckle the lap belt over the childs lap, and pull the strap ends until the belt is snug. C. Place the crotch strap between the childs legs. D. Pull the two ends of the shoulder harness over the childs shoulder and clip the buckles located on the ends of the shoulder straps onto the D ring located on the center crotch strap. IMPORTANT! Adjust the straps so that the D ring is located at the childs stomach level, not at chest level. E. Adjust the shoulder straps heights such that the upper buckles are at the same height as the top of the childs shoulders. F. Pull the shoulder straps loose ends until they are snug. G. Clip the outermost two shoulder straps (located on either side of the child) into the D ring of the outer two crotch straps. This will keep the straps that are not in use out of the way. WARNING Always attach seat belts and ensure the seat belts are properly attached, with buckles securely fastened and no slack in the seat belts! Failure to do so could result in a serious injury or death to the occupants in the event of an accident!

9A

STEP 10
10A

Proper use of the weather cover

10B 10C

Your trailer is fitted with a multi-purpose weather cover for climate control and protection from rain, rocks and insects. For protection, it is best to always have the front mesh cover rolled down and installed. 10A 10B 10C If the temperature is warm, or for improved ventilation, you can roll up the clear plastic rain cover and secure it by tucking its ends in the elastic loops on the roof. When using the trailer in stroller mode, if desired, the mesh cover can be rolled up and secured by tucking its ends in the elastic loops on the roof. The rear flap can also be rolled up and secured with the Velcro strips.

IMPORTANT! In cooler temperatures roll the rain cover and rear flap down. Regularly stop trailering and check that your children are comfortable and are comfortable in terms of temperature. IMPORTANT! In cool temperatures be sure to dress your children accordingly, and remember that as inactive passengers they will require more clothing than the cyclist. WARNING: When trailering, always ride with at least the front mesh cover installed. Failure to do this could result in the occupants being injured by flying debris!

STEP 11

Attaching the handlebar to the trailer

11A 11B

11A 11B

With the bend in the handlebar turning up, slide the handlebars ends into the trailers upper frame tube ends. Align the holes in the handlebars with the holes in the trailer frame and insert the safety pins from the outside inwards.

11C

11D

11C 11D

The safety pins loops must be pulled over the ends of the pins shafts into the locked position, so that the pins cannot accidentally fall out. Slide your hand through the opening of the safety wrist strap.

WARNING: Before each stroll ensure that the handlebars safety pins are properly locked! Failure to do this could result in the loss of the stroller, resulting in an accident and serious injury or death to the occupants! WARNING: Always use the safety wrist strap when pushing children in the stroller mode!

STEP 12
12A

Attaching the stroller caster

12B 12C

IMPORTANT! The stroller kit front wheel must be removed when the carrier is used as a bike trailer!

12A 12B 12C

Slide the long shaft of the stroller caster into the bracket on the bumper on the front of the trailer. With the stroller wheel fully inserted, secure the caster by pushing the safety pin fully through the horizontal hole in the bracket. The safety pins loops must be pulled over the ends of the pins shafts into the locked position, so that the pins cannot accidentally fall out. WARNING Before each stroll ensure that the stroller caster is secured properly with the pin fully inserted and secured. Failure to do this could result in the caster falling off, resulting in serious injuries or death to the occupants!

STEP 13

Engaging the parking brake

IMPORTANT! Your trailer has an independent parking brake for each wheel, so these steps need to be repeated for each wheel. 13A 13B Push Down

Pull up

13A 13B

To engage the parking brakes, pull up on the red knob until the lever inserts fully into a slot on the wheel hub. To ensure the brake is properly engaged, push the trailer lightly to confirm. To release the parking brake, push down on the red knob until the lever stops. Be sure to engage both brakes, for maximum safety.

IMPORTANT! The brakes should not be used to bring a rolling trailer to a halt. WARNING: Always engage both parking brakes whenever stopped! Failure to do so could result in the trailer rolling away, resulting in serious injuries or death to the occupants!
