Powerlink 840

G.SHDSL Series

Powerlink 840 is a digital Multi-rate and Multi-interface SHDSL modem for private 2 or 4 wire data communication lines (PDCL), with rates of 64 kbit/s to 5696 kbit/s at 2 wire or 64 kbit/s t 11392 kbit/s operating at 4 wires, always configurable in 64kbit/s steps.

MultiMux Interface
Powerlink 840 has the below listed interfaces, noting that some of them are optional items. - G.703/G.704 to 2048 kbits/s with CRC-4 error indication light. - V.35/V.36 and 64K to 11392kbits/s. - Ethernet* 10/100 half or full duplex, auto-sense, auto MDI/MDI-X, with Flow control in compliance to IEEE802.3x. - G.703/G.704 auxiliary* at 2048 kbits/s with CRC-4 error indication light. The equipment allows multiplexing of any set of available interfaces in the model. Any combination of operation speeds of the interfaces may be used, with the condition that the SHDSL line operation limits are respected.

Wetting (Sealing) Current Source*

This functionality, available in some of the Carrier Class equipment, maintains the electrical contacts clean and prevents their corrosion, through a 48V current applied to them. The equipment may be configured to function as source or sink.

DYING Gasp*
Th is ce ntra l modem fu nct iona lit y informs tha t the re was an energy shortage at th e remote modem. Thus, in case the link crashes, the network administrator may che ck directly at the console or via a management system that there was on ly a power sh orta ge an d t hat there is no need to send a technician to look at the problem.

Out of band Remote Management

This functionality provides a reduction in OPEX (Operational Expenses). The modem is equipped with a virtual terminal that allows remote access to a CPE, as for example a client router, through the remote modem console port. This gives the service provider the capability to change the remote CPE configuration and/or correct a configuration problem without having to send a technician to the client's site.

Interface Converter *
Powerlink 840 may come equipped with an interface converter circuit. On the contrary to other equipment available in the market, Powerlink 840 can convert multiple interfaces: G<=>V / G<=>E / G<=>V+E / E<=>G

Less Terminal Configuration Drop Insert

Power link 840 has a cascading function of the E1 timeslots. As a great part of the services do not consume an entire E1 frame, by using this functionality there is an economy of MUX ports connected to the E1 uplink. Used in conjunction to the Safe Adapter, even if a link or a modem crashes, the drop insert continues to function with the remaining links. Powerlink 840 makes it possible for the field technician to install the equipment without the need to carry with him a notebook or a VT100 terminal. The product allows the configuration of all its functionalities through 8-position DIP switches that make possible a vast range of configurations. Additionally, the STU-R modem may be configured so as to copy the configurations applied to the STU-C modem, extending the auto-rate functionality.

* This item is optional. Check the availability according to the specified model.
