Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Crossover

rossovers between two different franchises are uncommon but it nonetheless stirs up quite a hype. Examples would include films such as Aliens vs, Predator, Freddy vs, Jason and so on. Such line up of one camp against another provokes thoughts from the audience of, who is stronger? But if you think that only crossovers are being done in the film industry, then think again. The gaming world has been doing it since 1988 and this time, well review a game that features two of the gaming worlds beloved franchises, Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds (MvC3). MvC3 is a fighting game that features characters from Japanese video game company, Capcom, and American comic book bigwig, Marvel.Capcom characters include those from their games such as Dante from the DMC series, Viewtiful Joe, and Ryu, from Street Fighter. Marvels lineup on the other hand, includes notables such as Spiderman, Ironman, and the Hulk. Unlike typical fighting games, MvC3s matches lasts for only one round. It may look like short but when you pit six characters in a single match, then that makes things interesting and challenging. Each match is patterned after a three-versus-three tag team fight. The rules are simple, beat the life out of each of your opponents fighters before he chews the life out of your team. Matches in MvC3 are situated on 3D levels with 3D characters fighting on a 2D plane, similar to Street Fighter IV. Characters, especially the comic book-based are updated to their present incarnations. Characters are full of colour and detail, with

For the fanatics of the franchise, this game would certainly bring a sense of nostalgia. With fights akin to a wrestling tagteam match, players may choose to interchange their chosen characters in the middle of a fight. MvC3 makes matches exciting by allowing your benched characters to throw in some help. Also, the kind of partners you choose might either strengthen and continuously follow-up a combo, or wreck and break the combo chain. The spine-cracking hyper combos, air juggles, and team hyper combos are also back. Controls in MvC3 are simplified compared to its predecessors. Similar games often feature four to six buttons with each corresponding to a low to high kicks and punches. MvC3 does away with this mechanic and instead assigns only three buttons for low, medium, and high attacks. To the previous games fans, it may be a bit unsettling at first, but once you get used to it, for sure combos would fly up the screen. The game features a large number of game modes. From the

standard arcade singleplayer, to a goal-oriented Mission mode, Capcom made sure that players would definitely stick to the game. But of course, the main star would be the multiplayer. MvC3 is a highly-competitive game that spawns tournaments and matches. So if you have what it takes, the game is more than eager to push you to the global stage of matches to hone and practice your skills. Moreover, nothing beats the satisfaction of pulverizing your opponent in a fight. Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is a fun, action-packed fighting game. Its no wonder that the game is garnering praise from gamers and the internet community. Its easy to learn, fast-paced, and certainly wont bore players. To add, the game is still being updated as more characters are slated to arrive in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on November 2011. Despite the franchise being a classic favourite in arcades, Capcom opted to release them exclusively on consoles (Xbox360 and PS3). If you have the said consoles, then it would be wise to buy this game. A few words of warning though: this game is highly addictive and may cause hurt to your fingertips.

APL is The Apt role model setting the right alliances

Weird weather we were indeed having but for the townsfolk of Angeles, Pampanga, it was a perfect day to welcome their estranged child, back into their loving arms. Allan Pineda Lindo Jr, better known by his stage name Apl. De.Ap of The Black Eyed Peas pulled a McArthur and returned to his native land specifically, his hometown of Angeles, Pampanga. Back not so much with a vengeance but with more blessings to bestow upon fellow Kapampangans. He said. I came over to honor my commitment of aiding the less fortunate kids. Im not only able to help these kids pursue their dreams but Im fulfilling mine as well, Apl.de.Ap said in an interview. Our media posse embarked on this trek to bear witness to the fruition of Apls vision. Pineda who was born in Barangay Sapang Bato to a Filipino mother and an American father, migrated to the United States after finishing third year high school at the Holy Angel University (HAU). Our first stop was at Holy Angels University, where the ambiance was nothing short of immaculate! I say this because not only was the campus clean, halls quiet but the students were so disciplined, I coulda sworn there was no Grammy-award-winning local homegrown talent international celebrity coming to visit. The singer was feted with a sumptuous luncheon while a school belle rendered a bouncy tune for him. Last Tuesday, he inaugurated the Apl.de.ap music studio and music library he founded at the HAU in partnership with Hewlett Packard and Ayala Foundation Inc. He met the 15 recipients of

the Apl de Ap scholarships for the first time. Apl was so proud to note that these freshmen at the HAU all finished at the top of their class at the Sapang Bato National High School. The ribbon was finally cut to give way to the Apl de Ap Music studio which is to be a the training hub for musically talented youth. I hope to help develop more homegrown talents and help these kids live their dreams, Apl de Ap said. A music-training program consisting of lessons in electric guitar, drums, keyboard and voice is now in place. The library houses instruments used by the Black-Eyed Peas in various concerts will and is also stacked with books and compact disks. Our next stop was Pineda Sapang Bato National High School, where the singer finished his elementary education. Our group was warmly welcomed with songs and dance that prompted Apl to get up and dish out one of his hit songs, much to everyones delight. The singer then revisited the computer laboratory he founded together with Hewlett Packard, who donated the Omni 100s the students were using for their ongoing class at the time. The day was topped by a hearty merienda of local delicacies we shared with school heads, city officials and students. It was truly a heartwarming day. Apl de Ap is aptly a role model and inspiration. UV-C Keeps the Doctor Away Strolling in a store one day, I found two devices that promise to kill germs and bacteria with the use of ultraviolet (UV) lights. One of the devices is a small cylindrical-shaped bin that can be used to sanitize gadgets such as iPods and mobile phones, while the other one is a rectangular case that holds and cleans a toothbrush. After some thinking, it came to a realization that a certain range of ultraviolet light is actually beneficial in preventing the spread of diseases.
