Course Philosophy: In this one year language course, you will learn to speak, comprehend, read and write Spanish according to your course level and within the grammatical framework taught. Although becoming a bilingual is an ultimate goal in learning a language, you must look at this course as only a step in the total progression of that objective. Tests and Quizzes: Quizzes will be given at the end of every week (Friday). At the end of every unit chapter, you will have an exam covering everything learned and completed. At the end of the semester, you will have a final exam covering all information learned and discussed in class as well as an oral interview examination. A pop quiz may be given at any time. Classwork/ Homework: You will have classwork and homework everyday. Class work and notes shall be kept in your portfolio binder and studied daily. Notes should be well-organized, neat , dated and current.Your portfolio will not be acceptable if this is not met. Portfolio will be checked at the end of each unit chapter and will be graded. Homework must be passed foward

and stamped during the first 5 minutes of class. You will not receive credit for incomplete homework. Participation: Participation is very essential when learning a new language. I reserve the right to raise and lower your grade based on voluntary or involuntary participation. Participation includes being prepared in class, being in your seat when the bell rings, having all materials needed for the day, and participating in the daily activities. If you chose not to follow the above guidelines for participation, your participation grade for that day only will be lowered. Absences :If you are absent frequently you will not only loose participation points, but you will also have to make up the work that was done for that particular day. Only with excused absences will I allow make up test or quizzes. Keeping in mind since you missed class I reserve the right to decide when the test will be made up. Make-Ups: If you are absent on the day of a quiz or test, you must have a readmit in order to mkae it up. If you have a readmit for your absences, but have no readmit for the make up day (which is normally the next day) you will not be permitted to make up the quiz or test until you have a readmit for that day, too. In other words, all absences must be excused. Also, if you are absent for a test or quiz, it is your responsibility to make arrangements for a make up. You must take the initiative, as you only have the same amount of days you missed to make up the work.
