Lailutul Qadr - A Prayer

Bismi llahi Arrahman Irrahim.

Ya, Al-Hamid, Al-RazzaqYou are the only One worthy of all praise, please receive my gratitude for all your blessings to me and to my family. You are the Provider of immeasurable bounties, the Source of all our sustenance, of necessities and pleasures, Giver of ease and peace of mind and heart. Please forgive your servant for lack of gratitude and increase my gratefulness that I might be pleasing to you. Ya, As-Sami, Al-MujeebI come to you this night, better than one thousand nights, during this Blessed month, during this auspicious time in all of history, to ask you for your help and blessings. Please accept this prayer and fulfill these requests from your supplicant this night, which You have promised, for You are the One who listens to all supplications and You have sent Your angels for the granting of requests from those who are sincere. Ya, Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim Sincerity is only from Your Grace and Mercy; I cannot give it to myself. I want to be thankful to You, I want to love You and to worship You, I want to remember You at every moment; but I fall short, because I lack sincerity. Please, Ya, Al-Wadud, bestow this upon me that my worship be acceptable in Your eyes and that your angels be moved to respond to my requests of You. Ya, Al-Wahab, please extend Your beneficence to my family and grant them sincerity also. Ya, Al-Ghaffar, At-TawwabYou are the Forgiver and the Accepter of Repentance, so pour out Youre forgiveness onto me and all my family, and remove from us the stain of our sins and shortcomings that we will not be among the people who are lost. Ya, Al-Zahir, uncover for me all of my sins, that I may realize them and that way I can be sorry for them, and then, Ya, Al-Qahhar, make me sorry enough that my tauba be accepted by You. Make me understand the gravity of my sins so that my weeping and my repentance will be sincere. Ya, Al-Muhsi, We have believed in You, so save us from the agony of the fire. Ya, Al-Mani, Al-JabbarSave me from my own ignorance and from being one of the hypocrites, and save me from the hypocrites that surround me, and save me from resentment towards them and towards the confusion and injustice they create, especially as they are placed in positions of authority. Ya, Al-Dhar, keep me ever far from the rejecters of faith and from those upon whose hearts You have set a seal and purify my heart of all diseases. Ya, Al-Nafi, An-Nur You have said that no one will come near You except those who are pure and who purify themselves, so please purify me. Purify my mind, my soul, my spirit, my heart and my body. Ya, Dhul lJalal wal-Ikram, guide me through the

process of purification, for Your sake, and be patient with me for I am certainly one who wants to be pure and pleasing to You, and let me and those of my family be among the guided and forgiven ones whom You will purify on the Day of Resurrection.

Ya, Al-Muhaymin, Al-WaliProtect me from shaitan, the rejected. He fills my heart with hatred, resentment, pride, selfishness, forgetfulness, impatience, intolerance, ingratitude, carelessness, and hardness. Ya, Al-Halim, remove these things from my heart and replace them with true love, patience, humility, tolerance, long suffering, perseverance, softness of heart, and constant remembrance of You. Let me be as a beacon of light to those around me, especially to my children, that they may see these good qualities and that I may be a good example to them, by Your Grace. Ya, Al-Alim, Al-KhabirBestow upon me from Your Grace, knowledge, that I may employ it in Your service; so that I may clearly see and understand shaitans evil suggestions, and his deceptive plans and designs. Thus, I might be able with this knowledge to avoid his entrapments and to help others to avoid them, by Your leave. Ya, Adl, make me able to distinguish Truth from falsehood, without confusion, that I may commit no injustice on the earth. Ya, Al-Qabid, Al-MuqaddimMake me strong against evil, wherever it exists. Please, let me not be confused by it. Give me the strength to look at it plainly without flinching and to stand against it clearly without hatred. Give me the presence of Your mind in my mind, and the presence of Your words upon my tongue, and let the force of Your Truth shine within me in order to vanquish evil where it stands. Ya, Al-Haq, Al-QawiStrengthen my heart and remove the impediments from my mind and body which prevent me from doing good and righteous deeds; fill my mind with clarity and impulses to do good for Your sake, and with the strength to resist the impulses of shaitan. Increase my adoration of You so that I might learn righteousness, and that I will not be destined for the hell-fire. Ya, Al-Basit, Al-KhafidInstill in me the strength of character to witness the Truth, even as against my own self, that I may not justify or rationalize my own error, and humble me, that I will not employ my pride in defense of my own evil. Ya, AlMuqsit, increase me in understanding, that I might not be one who covers or conceals the Truth. But, let me be one who proclaims Your Truth in the most beautiful of ways. Ya, Al-Hadi, Ar-Rashid Please humble my spirit, that I might seek Your guidance. You are the one who guides, and You only guide to ways that are good. Please guide me and guide my family and motivate us to righteous actions, which further Your cause and Your plan for mankind. Ya, Al-Baith, make us ones who are steadfast in prayer and ever heedful, and make us ones who patiently persevere and who practice and enjoin right conduct.

Ya, Al-Matin, As-SaburMake me patient and firm and grant for me self-control. Make me one of the people of Truth in word and deed without any hypocrisy therein. Increase me in worship and remembrance of You. Ya, Al-Hafiz, keep me away from my enemy, the deceiver, and keep me away from all that is evil and shameful. Let me not be among those who say of Allah that which they know not. Ya, Al-Hakim, Al-KareemOpen my heart and my hand and make me one who is given to good charity and generous, for Your sake, and grant me wisdom, a benefit overflowing, and remove my sins thereby. Ya, Al-Fattah, Open me. You have placed within me a great potential, which has not been realized. Please remove my fear, uncertainty, and reticence. Grant me the courage to fulfill your expectation of me, give me another chance as You did with Your servant Yunus. Ya, Al-Hakam, Al-MuidYou are the One who tries our souls and You are the One who gives relief. Please relieve our family affliction of which only You have intimate knowledge, and, please, Ya, Al-Raqib, remove the hardness from our hearts and mutual blame. Let us be of those who say: To Allah we belong and to Him is our return, for we implore You for Your blessings, mercy, and guidance. Ya, Al-Wasi, Malikul MulkYou are the master of the sorting out; so make the events of our time in history plain to us so we are not in doubt and so that we are not divided. Restore the unity of Your Ummah and remove shaitans stain from the hearts of the contenders therein. Strengthen the Believers, Ya, Mumin, with a true champion who will lead us without contradiction against the forces of oppression and injustice in this world, both from within our ranks and from without. Ya, Al-Muhyi wal-MumeetPrepare us in steadfastness, remove our fear and doubt, reinforce us with Your Mercy and Grace, and make us victorious in this life and the next. You are the giver of life and the giver of death, so make us of those who hasten towards You, not of those who lag behind. Ya, Al-Khaliq, Al-BatinIndeed to You is due all praise, for You are the author and Creator of all things. You are the One who loves to be called by every beautiful name. May we ever be in remembrance of You and grateful. Glory be to You, Ya, Allah, who has guided us and who is our only hope and source of protection.
