Project Title: Military Robot Group members :Vivin Bhosale Hiren Kothari Rahul Pansaniya Ashish Sawant Introduction

This project describes robot, an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) to be made by us as one of their vital curriculum activities. The aim of the project is to build a robotics research platform for executing various combat military related operations. Our project would be a rugged, combat, all-terrain, all weather, portable, teleoperated UGV, autonomous UGV Robot designed to survive in military environment. It would also be having a minimum payload so as to perform various missions. We would be building a platform with various features on it so as to demonstrate few military related missions, which can be further extended or improved in future by young and talent aspirants of INDIA. Everyone knows that being a soldier is a dangerous job, but some of the tasks that soldiers are required to do are more dangerous than others. For example, walking through minefields, deactivating unexploded bombs or clearing out hostile buildings, are some of the most dangerous tasks a person is asked to perform in the time of duty. What if we could send robots to do these jobs instead of humans? Then, if something went wrong, we'd only lose the money it cost to build the robot

instead of losing a human life. And we could always build more robots. Thus our project is based on one of the advanced robotic design and has the capability of an ideal, versatile soldier, capable of performing variety of military mission accurately, rapidly and safely. The project and its features are been divided as three main topics and various subtopics under them as described below: Mechanical. Electronics. Software. Mechanical: JaggerNaut is a military oriented UGV robot. So it should be capable enough to maneuver on rough surface, rocks, shallow water, slippery sand, should be able to climb steep slopes, should be able to climb stairs and various uneven surfaces. This platform is useful in a variety of civilian and military applications. For example, a robotic platform can search building for structural damage caused by any natural calamity, for search and rescue operation, for surveillance operation.

The mobility platform shown in Fig 1 is already used in prior robotic platforms but this mobility platform has some improvements and changes. This platform is an articulated tracked vehicle. The vehicle has main frame which has two end mainly front section and rear section. Both the sections have a pair of parallel limbs which give it mobility over steep and uneven terrain such as stairs. Rear limb helps the platform to climb more steep sloped stairs. The two limbs are such that they rotate outside the main frame. General idea of the limb movement is as shown in the Fig

The communication microcontroller sends the information to motor driver circuit to drive the motors which in short will drive the mechanical assembly, also controls the three cameras and the speaker to act as voice of JaggerNaut. On the other side it acts as input by taking reading from various on board sensor such as temperature, metal detector, IR ranging, and many more sensors, and then transmitting it to PC wirelessly to take appropriate decision.

The applications of this robot are numerous. Some possible industrial uses include:

Industrial Automation Mining. Lifting goods. Construction works. Cleanup of hazardous waste. Industrial maintenance. Airport Cargos. Planetary Exploration. (Used by NASA)
